Re: [osg-users] Please buil test OpenSceneGraph SVN

2007-08-24 Thread Luigi Calori
Under WinXP, compilation ok, one small problem on osgconv, not a ble to
compress textures

osgconvd.exe --compressed cow.osg cow.ive

Failed to create pbuffer, failing back to normal graphics window.
Error: Unable to create graphis context - cannot run compression
Data written to 'cow.ive'.

solved (for me) by adding
#include osgViewer/Viewer

The new plugin search path prevent running osg examples and apps from
build folders, without installation step due to VisualStudio adding
debug/release to plugin
this can be fixed twaking CMake Macros

sent patches to osg-submission

Hi Robert,

I've built it approximatively 2 hours ago (after an update) and everything
works fine (Windows XP, Visual Studio, Multi core CPU and NVidia Quadro
card). The only update I am missing is the one from JS on FileUtils but I
have already tested these changes.

Just so you know, I'm about 60% into building SVN on Solaris (our
pickiest compiler). I didn't get enough time to build between seeing
your request and you tagging the release.

No problems yet. Hopefully there won't be. Maybe next time I'll say
that I've started.

Let me know how you get on with the build. I have just had to make a
fix to the OpenFlight plugin five minutes after tagging 2.1.7 so it
seems I'll need to get a 2.1.8 out quite promptly, if there are any
issues you find then I can roll these into 2.1.8.

Re: [osg-users] Please buil test OpenSceneGraph SVN

2007-08-23 Thread Andy Skinner
Built and ran (viewer showing a cow). I haven't done anything else
extensive, but it didn't have the problems we'd been having.

I should soon be where I can do some testing within our product on a
more regular basis. The delays are in getting the updated versions
integrated, not in building OSG. I don't know how many times I could
cycle between now and 2.2, but I want 2.2 to be pretty stable, so I'll
get in what I can. I wonder if I can automate our process.

I think one week would be rushing it, but am glad that it is coming to a
close. However, if there are multiple changes being made, I'd push off
the 2.2 release when a submission goes in. A previous one (I forget if
it was 2.0 or 2.1) felt like it happened immediately after a slew of
changes, and that made me nervous. I understand 2.2 is intended to be
about stability, so I think it'll be better.

thanks
andy

Probably the same problem as the OpenFlight loader not being found -
an issue with osgDB now enforcing low case plugin names. I've fixed
the case of the plugins in SVN.

Changes all up the risk on build and execution stability. I'm not
planning any significant changes, perhaps a few tweaks to osgTerrain
and associated plugin, and refinement of osgViewer. The rest of the
changes will be primarily about stability.
