Alliances across global thought communities

One of FoW24Hrs initiative’s is to form and develop an alliance of
likeminded communities around the world in order to support each other and
create more powerful impact in terms of increasing awareness of new ways of
organizing and working. Although this was started in autumn 2021, it has
taken a bit of time to get it together, largely due to other work
commitments and especially the huge geographic spread of such an endeavor.

As a reminder, we envision a cross community collaboration team that can
create and sustain better communication and coordination between local
events and efforts at improving working practices. The vision is to be able
to encourage and support smaller local initiatives and online events by
spreading the word to the wider community. These thought communities could
be supporting each other to achieve greater collective impact while
maintaining their unique brands and identities.

So far we have 12 communities participating from Australia, Japan, India,
Egypt, Finland, Switzerland, U.K., Brazil, East and West Coast USA,
including communities like Reinventing Work Network, Teal Around the World
(Teal Network), Human-centred Organizational Governance, Human-Centric CoP,
Enlivening Edge and ourselves, the Future of Work 24 Hours. Given the
geographic (time zone) span, it is difficult to meet online at the same
time, but we did arrange a first meeting with all representatives present
(albeit some meeting around midnight, others at 5am), all together to get
to know each other. Thereafter, we shall probably meet split in two
separate time zones.

Given the stretch we kept our first meeting to just one hour. Nevertheless,
it was a fruitful meeting, a chance for all to meet and talk to each other.
We covered quite a bit of ground, exploring shared values and principles as
well as clarifying what our purpose is and what kind of support activities
we might get involved in. We will continue to work on this, and much more,
albeit asynchronously.

For this purpose we agreed to use the new community side of QiqoChat
platform. This will allow us to work on various things asynchronously as
well as being able to video call each other spontaneously. The platform is
still embryonic, a work in progress, and for the next few weeks is open
until we limit it to members, so for now it can be viewed at
https://fowconnect.qiqochat.com
.
One advantage of using Qiqochat is we will able to shape the online
community platform in a way that works. We still have to give our
initiative a name.

Hours*
Future of Work 24 Hours LIVE

When we wrapped up our Global Unconference last May, we had the idea to
create Future of Work 24 hours LIVE
,
a space to continue those invigorating open space conversations and have
ongoing community dialogue about all things Future of Work.

As we now approach the 3rd annual Future of Work 24 Hours global
unconference

next month, we are officially bringing this idea to life and creating a
series of unscripted, exploratory conversations. The conversations will be
brief - up to 24 minutes ;) In the spirit of open space technology, these
conversations will have no predetermined agenda; rather, they will revolve
around our 2022 global theme: *Unimagined Possibilities* (read more about
our theme here
).
These conversations will be hosted by members of the Future of Work 24
Hours global community.

Our next 24-hour experience is on *May 12-13, 2022*

Hi Tami,

I have some experience with OST in a very poor quartier in Istanbul and I
facilitated several online
participatory meetings about Poverty with the participation of some
municipalities in Turkey last year.

I would be happy to share my experiences and learn what has been done with
OST
about Poverty.

Jeff, Michael, Mark,

Thanks very much for your contribution. Your suggestions help me to
formulate the title.
However this is an ongoing research in my personal and working life: Where
is my space? Do I share
the space with the participants? Should I? How much? Where and How much is
legitimate?

[OSList] title for a one hour workshop?

2021-07-28 Thread Funda Oral via OSList
Hello everyone,

I will run a one hour workshop at the Facilitators' Summit of the
International Facilitators Association in October.
I wanted to discuss

*"Where does the Facilitator Stand in Space?"*

In fact I would like to introduce the idea of not being afraid of *"asking
questions" *to open space and spaces,
facilitating the divergence phase and moving to convergence properly,
giving and holding necessary time and space for these.

In the meantime, I would like to discuss with the participants where the
facilitator should stand? *how much space*
*should she/he must have, occupy? *

I appreciate any ideas/suggestions for a short title of the workshop?

Thanks in advance,
Funda Oral

I think "Holacracy" points out a "Self Organizing, Interactive, Inspired
System" as indicated in Open Space Technology.

Re: [OSList] Asking for your wisdom - Leora Tushinski

2021-03-03 Thread Funda Oral via OSList
Hi Leora,

Such a wonderful question! Thanks.

I will continue to think about it as this might be the fear of many
leaders. But the first
thought I have: let's think that as a manager, you ask a question to invite
your colleagues to a space but nobody shows up.
This means that nobody cares about that question. That also means that
nobody can in fact be productive in this issue.

So you should maybe change your question.

If people care about the question and the issue, they will participate with
a "purpose", that is to answer the question.
In this case the "freedom" is the best environment for them to work with
high potential.

If they can contribute with "their" answers, the work will get done.

I hope this gives some clues.

Regards,
Funda

[OSList] feedback on virtual meetings using open space technology

2021-01-09 Thread Funda Oral via OSList
Hi Everybody,

Here I am after many years, always in love with OST :-). I had a chance to
experience the virtues and efficiency of open, interactive organizations
for many years already.

When we were locked down at home I thought that OST can not be as efficient
as before as "physical meeting" was not possible.

However lately my opinions have changed. I think that it's much easier to
bring the whole system in one room, deep conversations are more likely to
take place safely, the circle and equality can be felt more easily.

I would like to have the feedback you get from the participants regarding
online/virtual meetings held with OST.

I always need to convince some people about OST, that's the challenge of my
life I guess :-)

Have a wonderful and healthy weekend,

Funda
