2019-10-23 Thread Ingibjorg Gisladottir via OSList
Dear OS community

Wasington, DC is about to open space for WOSonOS 2019. A year ago WOSonOS
2018 was hosted in Iceland and memories were made in an old theatre
building in Reykjavík. I had the honor of facilitating the event and am
grateful for the adventure and the wonderful people I met. I am sharing
with you new 3 min video from WOSonOS 2018
 while sending best wishes to
Washington, DC and to all the OS community. I am sure you are going to have
productive and good time together in DC and I look forward to attending the
opening via zoom.

[OSList] Proceedings from WOSonOS 2018 & Q with Harrison Owen

2019-02-22 Thread Ingibjorg Gisladottir via OSList
Dear friends!

The Proceedings from WOSonOS 2018 in Reykjavik are now available at
http://openspaceworld.org/wp2/osonos/ They had earlier been shared with
participants.

I also share with you a link to the recordings of the Q session with
Harrison Owen that took place by the end of first day. Thank you Harrison
for having this wonderful session with us!

Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL3qXUYHcaU=

The recording started a few moments into the first question that was "*How
do you like Iceland?*" ;-) Among other topics discussed were grief work,
values and conflict, breathing and Open Space in the Business world.

Kind regards from Iceland

Inga

[OSList] OS success stories in a business/corporate/startup environment

2018-11-08 Thread Ingibjorg Gisladottir via OSList
Dear OS community

I have been in communication with a business journalist who is interested
in writing about OST meetings in a business section of a daily newspaper.
What are the potentials, expected results, success stories etc?

I would appreciate if anyone could direct me to some specific success
stories of what has been done in business/corporate/startup environment.
Perhaps there is something to be found on the internet? Or if you could
give me some insight into specific examples.

Hoping to spread the word in Iceland

Thank you in advance

Re: [OSList] Marking a New National/Regional Educational Policy -examples of Open Space meeting being set up?

2018-11-02 Thread Ingibjorg Gisladottir via OSList
Dear Micheal
Thank you for sharing this preparation process. This is very valuable, and
I realise now when I re-read it that I have probably been overthinking the
preparation process like I had hosting responsibility and was responsible
for the educational policy.

Will take this in, reflect on it and realign my thinking!

Re: [OSList] Marking a New National/Regional Educational Policy -examples of Open Space meeting being set up?

2018-11-02 Thread Ingibjorg Gisladottir via OSList
Dear friends

Thank you all for your valuable input - The next days I will dive further
into the links and info you sent me and I may get back to you.

Up till now, when educational authorities, in my city of 125.000 habitants
(where I have worked in HR past 15 years), have wanted consultation, they
have made sure (with good intentions) that every educational institution is
equally represented in group discussion.

Teachers and parents are the obvious group to be invited in the minds of
officials, then at some point, later in the planning process someone says:
"What about the children, should we perhaps ask them?" Each principal
school leader has been asked to select 2 teachers/professionals
representing the staff in that school, 2 parents and 2 children and they
have been invited to meetings where staff is together in one meeting,
another meeting is set up for parents and the third for children. So it is
only the people that are within the current system who take part in the
discussion. And the results are more or less the same! Perhaps a little
shift in focus. Parents feel that school should be like it was when they
were young, teachers want to segregate the children so that the difficult
ones are out of their classroom -and the voice of the children is very much
underrepresented in the discussion although their discussion was most to
the point, they followed the instructions and were the group who came up
with most of the new ideas.

I am working on a "proposal" for the ministry of education where I want to
be invited to take part in the planning of the conversation/consultation on
a national level. I feel that OS is the right meeting format and am hoping
that broader range of issues and perspectives will be brought up. Together
with children, parents and teachers/school leaders/professional I would
like to invite people from outside of the educational system, universities,
people (staff/leaders) working in different sectors and industries,
futurists and innovators, young people who recently entered the "real
world" of living independently and supporting themselves, people with
different background and who themselves were in schooled abroad. Those who
dropped out of school, are unemployed, minorities, people with disabilities
etc.

And I want them to be together in a meeting so it will be a versatile
group. It is pretty much an open invitation where everyone could attend, I
guess.
But how to go about the invitation and meeting setup? Is it going to be one
large meeting or many in different parts of the country? Although Iceland
has only 350.000 habitants they are very much spread around the relatively
large island (compared to no of habitants) and transportation can be
complicated and expensive. How should the invitation and theme be, so that
it appeals to the groups mentioned? These are some of the questions I need
to reflect on and discuss with ministry officials.

Enough for now, I felt like sharing my thoughts with you - your insight and
comments will be welcomed.

Have a great day

[OSList] Marking a New National/Regional Educational Policy -examples of Open Space meeting being set up?

Dear OS community

Can anyone lead me to examples of where OS has been used in the making of
Educational Policy of a nation/state/community?

I think it is important to invite children, teenagers,
highschool/university students and young people who are recently out of
school to the conversations. . ..but who else should be there?

Your insights on this and experience is appreciated if you have the
possibility to share it with me.

[OSList] WOSonOS 2018 in Reykjavik, Iceland | Group photo & few more

2018-10-28 Thread Ingibjorg Gisladottir via OSList
Dear Open Space community

WOSonOS 2018 in Reykjavík Iceland took place Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday;
the theme being "*Issues and Opportunities of bringing Open Space
Technology to our World´s Challenges*" hosted by Kári Gunnarsson. The event
was also NOSonOS 2018 - Nordic Open Space on Open Space - that got upgraded
to World Open Space on Open Space.

I like to share with you a picture of the great participants of WOSonOS
2018 in Reykjavik. The 42 participants came from 10 countries; Sweden, UK,
The Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Israel, China, US, Canada and Iceland -
all participants brought important contribution to the conversations. Among
participants were experienced Open Space facilitators as well as people who
had never before participated in an Open Space meeting - it was great to
have new people joining the OS community at the event. Two groups of
university students participated, one from The Netherlands and the other
from Iceland. Harrison Owen joined us as well in a Q session where he
responded to our questions with great stories and shared his valuable
wisdom. Many thanks HO!

I had the honor of facilitating WOSonOS in Reykjavik and feel very
privileged to have had that opportunity - and to get to know wonderful
people for three whole days and witness their passionate conversations.
This is my first email ever to the OSlist but not the last! I will later
send info on the proceeding and a link to more pictures and videos.

I am sending you a link to an album w/ 5 pictures: 1)The great Group 2)
