RE: [Outdoors] Easter??? Backpacking anyone?
That sounds great Ewan. I talked to the warden from Waterton and the only possible route involves ascending a pass with a 40 degree slope that has a 3-4 meter ice pack. Pushing it a little. What are the inclines of the passes. If there is a significant amount of snow they should be done early in the day with crampons, otherwise snowshoes should be fine. This will be the last email i sent out to the list - so as to stop clogging people boxes (sorry) - so if you're interested contact one of us directly. Ian Curran. I would be. Is it going to be open? Earlier in the winter they weren't sure if they were going to be able to replace all the bridges and cable cars that got destroyed in last years storms by this season. Also is anything happening with that Juan de Fuca trail suggestion put out a month ago? Ian. RE: [Outdoors] Easter??? Backpacking anyone?
OK.how about Littlehorn Meadows? It's a hike 42km West of Nordegg. So 3 1/2 hours from Edmonton. It's 26km longgoes over 2 passes (max elevation 2480m). Book says 3 days.we could do it in two days i'm sure if we're feeling a little bit hardcore. I'm guess we will probably have some 'fun' snow issues on the passes. But that's all part of the fun right? Plus it's an area we went to two weeks ago and there was very little snow at 2100m.. Supposed to be highly recommended scenic hike. Noah? Ian? Hi Ian, I am interested about the Waterton plan, and I am flexible with time. we can even expand it to 3 nights and 4 days, which means whole weekend but take full advantage of weather, place and time I do have park pass and guide book(don't waste your time in Canadian Rockie's) which has all trails in detail. so let me know abt last plan. Hey Noah and others, What length of trip is being looked for? If we were to go to Waterton it would prob be best to do a 2 night 3 day trip because of the length of the drive. Mark nesbitt and I were wanting to do something for sure. Probably only two days though. We were tihnking maybe Cadomin for some bouldering one day and a hike another. Do you climb? Would anyone else be interested in that? Also we're struggling for transport right now...do you drive?!
