Installed PRTG as I've been looking for something to monitor what my
internation students are doing (they were streaming HD TV at one point...).
It didn't seem to want to run on Windows 8. I guess it either needs a
Server OS or Windows 7?
Shame. It sounds like you guys think its good value. I just want real time
monitoring of bandwidth leeching. (ie downloading movies or
streaming/flooding link)

We're trialling this for APC12 and TE12 at the moment. I have nearly 1000
sensors being monitored with remote probes all over the place at the moment
and it seems very fast and solid.

I just fired up PRTG on a box here and I have to say it looks quite tidy.
The default sensors configured into the product show that they have been
around the traps and know what to look for (number of xlates in a Cisco ASA
as a default rule, for example).

I like PRTG as well. I also use ipmonitor v6 (MediaHouse) but is still
works great and simple.

Another one to check out is PRTG network monitor. It has worked well for
us and also has a free (although limited) option.
Cheers,

It's got a free option we are considering but soon as you step above
that's it's a nightmare for cost.

If money is no object, SolarWinds
If you want something vaguely approximate that is cheaper: WhatsUpGold.

Hi DotNetters,
Any one has any recommendations for a service/platform/application that
I can use for monitoring my cloud servers (W2K8,SQL2K8)?
I'd like to monitor classic stuff: availability, IIS, SQL, maybe a bit
of disk and CPU. The only important one really is availability (http/https).

Corneliu
