Re: [OT] New surface laptop
We need to make laptop threads on topic. They happen so often we could almost make the list about them. :) My Dell xps 13 is ok but it felt lacking in performance. I suspect it's the aggressive power throttling. I may turn off the CPU stepping and see if it runs better. Recently got Razer Blade pro. Good except too heavy to be deemed portable and the sound is popping even after driver updates. Might just be a dud. Getting support on that which is delayed due to timezones. I don't think good laptops exist. They are a myth. On 3 Jul. 2017 11:20 am, Tom Rutter wrote: Anyone got the new surface laptop? If so, thoughts? *Strong recommendation not a DELL!* DELL took my working machine, broke it in a service call and would not take responsibility for the breakage! They knew it was not worth my time to take it any further! Now I will never buy a DELL again! On Mon, Jul 3, 2017 at 1:19 PM, Tom Rutter wrote: > Anyone got the new surface laptop? RE: [OT] New surface laptop
(I work for Microsoft) I purchased the i5, 256 GB one for my wife last week. First impressions, screen is really bright. The Alcantara cover is very different to what I thought it would be (less material-like than I thought). Much lighter and smaller when closed to my original Surface Book (mind you this is the fastest Surface Book you can buy). Curves are really nice on the hands and must less sharp than its Surface Book cousin. I found my Surface Book lacking as dev-box (as I find with a lot of laptops), and UI performance really sucked if you connected an external monitor that wasn’t the same DPI – I suspect this thing would suffer from the same thing.
