Re: [OT] New laptop
Just wondering, is it worth spending so much money on local computing? I wonder how many people are now using Amazon or Azure as an option vs buying best in the breed local computing power. Is 8gb, i5 environment not enough? Apologies for Invitation to connect on LinkedIn post to this usergroup
Good Morning Folks, Please pardon my email stating Invitation to connect on LinkedIn. I installed the andriod app on my phone and committed the sin of clicking next - next in the crowded train. It wasn't my intent to spam your inbox. I hope you are able to empathize and pardon this oversight. Have a great day, Tejas Goradia.
Re: [OT] Purchasing Office Visio
H ello James, Just wondering if you've looked up any deals on sites such as Ozbargain. You might be able to pick up MS Office Pro Plus 2013 for as low as $30. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/91344 If you do any number crunching using excel via Pivot tables then do consider Excel 2013. Microsoft is really working hard to add a lot of analytical add-in's such as PowerPivot, Power View, Data Explorer and Geo Flow for free. Kind Regards, Tejas Goradia. I've looked on www.mwave.com.au and they have them for $235 $419.67 respectively. I'm not sure if this is right, but Visio by itself is more expensive than Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook. ** ** Is that right??? ** ** Can anyone suggest where I might go to get better pricing for either or both of these? (I'm purchasing for a regular retail business so Action Pack doesn't apply.) ** ** Cheers. ** ** James.
Re: Calling out to all you geeks to help me buy\build a machine (preferably laptop) that can support following System Requirements.
Hi Ben, Thanks for the info. Would you suggest building a desktop instead? I'm happy to invest in a laptop but these days no amount of RAM is good enough. Tejas. If they do they are likely pretty expensive. Here's a reasonable Acer laptop for $1,050 (after cash back from Acer) that will meet your specs once you add another 4GB of RAM (comes with 1x 4GB but can be upgraded to 2x 4GB) and install your OS of choice.
