writting apps that run on phones and dial phone numbers

2011-04-25 Thread Kirsten Greed
Hi All

Can anyone give me an idea how to write an app that runs on Android and/or
iphone and/or windows 7 phone

The user would search for a contact and then press a DIAL button

The contacts database would sync with the corporate one ( via Microsoft
Sync Framework I expect )

Where do I start?

Thanks

Kirsten

If you're interested in sharing code across .NET-based platforms, have a look
at my project, the Portable Library Tools[1]. We're also working with Miguel to
add support for this in MonoTouch and MonoDroid.

I call that message the "the Android emulator sux, go get a real device to
debug on" error message.

Seriously, we've found the only way to do Android development (using monodroid
at least) is with a real device. We've got a Galaxy Tab and a Galaxy S phone
that seem to work fine for debugging.

Hi Nick

I found out that it was because I had created the wrong version of the
emulator

It works with 2.3.1

Can you give me a tip on how to send the program to a real device?

Do I have to publish it to the market place just to test it?

Thanks

Hi Nick

I found out that it was because I had created the wrong version of the
emulator

It works with 2.3.1

Can you give me a tip on how to send the program to a real device?

Do I have to publish it to the market place just to test it?

Thanks

Kirsten

I call that message the "the Android emulator sux, go get a real device to
debug on" error message.

Seriously, we've found the only way to do Android development (using
monodroid at least) is with a real device. We've got a Galaxy Tab and a
Galaxy S phone that seem to work fine for debugging.

No, you don't need to publish it to the market place. However you do need to
purchase monodroid unfortunately. Then all you need to do is to put the device
and your computer on the same wifi network (required for debugging) and connect
the device to the pc via usb (make sure you install the relevant drivers - this
is for deployment of the app).
