  hi!
bmid student here! when you refer to the ABA -
  what is that?
I am guessing it is something to do with
breastfeeding, but was wondering if someone could tell me

Re: nipple rings

2002-03-28 Thread nicolec

I looked after a woman only a month ago that had a nipple ring. She had
taken it out for the birth of her baby. The milk came out of the two side
holes produced by the ring and she had continous leaking. It was very
awkward with hand expression as the milk came out the sides instead of into
the cup. This woman BF beautifully without any problems.

Re: Perineal suturing

2002-03-28 Thread Judy Chapman

Hi Bec,
If you go to the url below there is a book and video which are very good.
Not cheap but you may be able to get your organisation to buy it for the
library. It is called Healing Passage and is by a home birth midwife for
midwives in the US.

Hi everyone

I am organising an education and accreditation process for perineal suturing
for midwives. We currently have a video which is not particularly
women-friendly although it does demonstrate a reasonable repair technique.
Could anyone please suggest a recent perineal repair teaching video that
ideally incorporates infiltration with local anaesthetic, both perineal
tears and episiotomy repair technique and suture material of choice
(polyglycolic), that at least refers to the woman rather than just her
perineum?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks.

Bec Smith
