To All, FYI Regards, Anne Clarke Brisbane C-section has minor risk of maternal HSV-2 brain inflammationCesarean SectionOctober 2, 2003 2003 OCT 2 - (NewsRx.com NewsRx.net) -- Cesarean sections can have an HSV-2 meningitis or encephalitis risk for the mother. "Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) encephalitis is rare, especially during pregnancy. In immunocompetent patients, HSV-2 meningitis (contrary to HSV-1 meningitis) is usually mild, without encephalitis," scientists writing in the Journal of Infection report. "We report a rare case of maternal, HSV-2 encephalitis following Cesarean section. The woman had no symptomatic genital lesion, and the infant was not infected," wrote C. Godet and colleagues. Re: [ozmidwifery] aromatherapy
Hi Linda, I did some research in my midwifery degree, about just that. There is some great reference material out there, I'll list some here... http://www.aromaweb.com/links/default.asp http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/aromathr.html Anything by Denise Tiran is bound to be good, I found, and I also accessed the ongoing trial being done at the Radcliffe centre in Oxford by Ethel Burns, Caroline Blamey et al, which is fantastic also. Hope this helps, Tania - Original Message - From: linda kamchevski To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, October 02, 2003 4:02 PM Subject: [ozmidwifery] aromatherapy Hi all My place of work are now introducing the use of aromatherpy to our unit. Re: [ozmidwifery] meconium stained liquor
We do suction on the perineum for all Mec, and anything more than light staining warrants a paed at birth. Here they use a grading system, Mec I, II and III. I haven't used that before in Victoria, but everyone seems to use it here in WA.
