Re: [ozmidwifery] Midwifery in East Timor
Dear Margaret Before you reinvent the wheel, there is a very good set of teaching manuals and an accompanying student book produced by WHO under its Safe Motherhood Banner on Midwifery Education. The manuals are titled: The Midwife In The Community Postpartum Haemorrhage Obstructed Labour Puerperal Sepsis Eclampsia They include normal as well as abnormal. There are also a lot of teaching suggestons and even some teaching aids. While they were produced in 1996 they are still relevant and up to date. If they are no longer available from WHO I am prepared to copy them for you or get them scanned onto a CD if this is easier. Dear Tanya You are definitely doing the right thing. Hang in there! Ann Grieve Tanya drumm wrote: Hi everyone, I have been a member of this list for a few weeks and though I should introduce myself to you all. My name is Tanya Drumm and I live in Hobart, Tas. I am currently a 1st year external Bachelor of Midwifery student with Uni of SA, married with 2 beautiful children and have just started my two follow thrus with a lovely lady who is in her early stages of pregnancy (I must say I am a little nervous about how I will be treated/accepted). I am a little worried about how I will be accepted when doing pracs and follow thrus in Hobart (as well as finding 30 ladies who want me to be part of their journey) as I have heard from quite a few people that I am doing the wrong thing (by doing BMid instead of BNursing then Midwifery), but am prepared to fight my case if I need too. I am really enjoying being a part of this list and would gladly appreciate any advice any of you can offer. Thanks again for letting me be a part of this list.
