[ozmidwifery] Mr Latham and Mothers7 IMD present for all!!

2004-03-06 Thread Denise Hynd
Dear Justine
Here in WA we are inviting Mr Latham to come to the CMP when he next comes
to Perth to meet some families and midwives who have experienced this
Community Based Solution to the ongoing problems of the Australian maternity
services.
We want to ask him to offer funding to access universal access to the option
of 1-on-1 midwifery care if he becomes our next Prime Minister, as his
Midwives and Mother's Day 2004 present to Australian mothers and midwives.

It would be great if all the groups which endorsed NMAP could write and ask
him to consider this?

ACMI (SA) IMD awards

2002-05-06 Thread Christine & Tony Holliday

Hello all,

The SA
branch of the ACMI celebrated IMD with a lunch yesterday and there we presented
our annual awards.

Our
Recognition of Midwifery Excellence Award was won by two community midwives
from Whyalla, Verity Timms and Julia McMahon.  Included in the nomination were the following reasons, they
have a strong commitment to the birthing community of Whyalla including
offering up to three antenatal visits a week to enable the women to remain in
their own homes and reduce hospital admissions.  They have also been instrumental in developing protocols for
the care of women in the Woomera Detention Centre and  have extended the hand of friendship to
these women and help them to have a positive birth experience.

The
Midwifery Advocate Award was given to CARES SA, who support women in many
regards including all aspects of LSCS.
They appreciate the importance of continuity of carer and raise the
profile of midwives by recognising them as the expert professional to give care
to a woman and her baby.

Congratulations
also go to Janine Evans who won the SA Johnson’s Baby Midwife of the Year.

It was a
very enjoyable day and so nice to get the opportunity to catch up with so many
midwives.

IMD Celebrations in WA

2002-04-28 Thread elaine stratton

Dear all WA Midwives and consumers

Just a FINAL reminder to let me know if you need tickets to our
"Bubbles and Blues" Cocktail Dance at the Sheraton Perth on Friday 3rd May
from 7pm until midnight.(Bookings close on Wednesday).
Price of $70 includes all the bubbles (champagne, beer, wine, soft drink)
you can drink all night plus sumptuous cocktail food and a live band "The
Roz Pearson Quintet" to dance to.

VANESSA and ALANA from National Office are coming over to be with us so this
will be a rare oppportunity for WA midwives to meet and talk to them about
all the current issues in midwifery, both Nationally and Internationally as
they have just returned from the ICM conference in Vienna.

The Johnson and Johnson Baby WA Finalist will be presented with his/her
award and it would be wonderful if we could pack out the room to show how
well West Aussies support their winner of this prestigious award.

It promises to be a memorable evening of celebration with our peers and
midwifery consumers of our wonderful profession of midwifery.

So act now!! Get out your "glad rags", dust off your dancing shoes, contact
some friends and get some tickets from me and come along and join us on
Friday. You could be the lucky winner of the door prize (donated by the
Sheraton) or a beautiful Lucina Rose

See YOU there!!

and a Very Happy IMD from ACMI WA to everyone else on the list.

Yours in midwifery

IMD 2000

1999-08-09 Thread Alex Weston

To all the assume midwives on ozmid,
after you have read this e-mail could you send it to other midwives not on
ozmid, Thanks

The NSW Midwives Association is
co-ordinating IMD 2000 for branches of ACMI and all midwives across
Australia.  I am currently involved in negotiations with various
corporations in relationship to sponsorship for a number of
activities.

I am keen to receive feedback in
relation to the IMD packs from this year, please send these to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Certainly we had a problem with very
late orders this year as well as Australia Post.  Next year we would like
to send the packs out at the beginning of March, which means all orders need to
be in the first week of February.  This means various products will be
ordered/made in November/December 1999.

Also we would welcome ideas re
promotional products, particularly for the IMD packs but also for other
activities for IMD, nationally.

I am able to secure significant
sponsorship dollars if we can present clear projects to corporations. We are
looking for ideas for projects that will benefit all midwives practicing in
Australia.

As we have the slogans already
identified by ACMI I can commence processes over the next few months for
t-shirts for IMD.  I would like to try for next year, all midwives
wearing the ACMI T-shirt on IMD.

These could be sent out the first week
of March, if all orders are in by the first week in February, with production
commencing end of 1999.
Send in ideas and we will try to put
samples/drawings on our website.

How many midwives would wear the
  t-shirts??
  What style would you
  like??
  Would you prefer a
  shirt??
  Do you want a few
  choices??
  What colors would you
  prefer??

I will be in Hobart for the national
conference and am happy to meet with representatives/midwives from across
Australia in order to discuss IMD 2000.  Call NSWMA and arrange a meeting
(02) 92819522 alternatively in Hobart I can be
contacted on 0412 967 297.

Look forward to your
ideas
