RE: MOSS SP2..license bug

2009-05-21 Thread Daniel Brown
The workaround at the moment for it is to just reenter your key and all
comes back up fine.

It's not like it expires tomorrow, it does give you a 180 days (yay, how
nic!), so your in no immediate danger or being cut off from your farm.
Just a inconvenience at this stage.

In Central Admin, go to Operations, click on Convert license type under
the Upgrade and Migration heading

If it is set to a trial edition, it will read Office SharePoint Server
Trial with Enterprise Client Access License, if you haven't been
effected it will state the SharePoint, Standard, Enterprise, etc.

We're still working from the official work form the product team and are
liaising with them to help confirm it.

What screen? All I can see is version number on any setting screens.

Migrate a Farm to a new Database Server SQL 2005 -- SQL 2008

2009-05-21 Thread Sezai Komur
Hi All,
I'm looking for resources on migrating the database server used by a farm
from the current SQL Server 2005 db server to a fresh SQL Server 2008 db
server.

The resources on TechNet (
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc512725.aspx Move All
Databases) state The new database server must use the same version of
Windows Server and SQL Server as the old database server but the SQL 2005
server is on Server 2003 and the SQL 2005 server is on Server 2008.

The WFE will stay as is for now, so basically I need to preserve the same
web apps and site collections so users aren't even aware the migration
occurred.

Has anyone worked through this process previously? or have any good links to
share on this process?

Thanks,

Sezai.

2009-05-21 Thread Noja, Fadi
I've done it a few times here.

I've moved content databases on their own as well as full farms.

It's probably easier to email me direct. fadi.n...@fahcsia.gov.au

There's a few things you'll need to do that aren't in that article.

RE: Meeting/Decision WorkSpaces - masterpage bug

2009-05-21 Thread Steven Berry
Is the list being pulled from the top level masterpage folder? Or you
referencing it later on down in the tree of sites?

Subject: Meeting/Decision WorkSpaces - masterpage bug

Hi all,

I'm aware of the known quirk with this type of site but what I don't understand
is why MWSdefault.master isn't available in the drop-down in Master Page
Settings for the site.

If I go into master page settings for the workspace I see that default.master
is selected along with the usual errors:

[cid:image001.png@01C9DAE0.31545670]

The site master page setting currently applied to this site is invalid. Please
select a new master page and apply it

[cid:image001.png@01C9DAE0.31545670]

The system master page setting currently applied to this site is invalid.
Please select a new master page and apply it.

The only vaguely sensible fix I can think of is to set it in SPD where
MWSdefault.master is clearly visible. But this then leaves you with the above
errors again.

Instead I chose to create a custom master which is nothing more than a copy of
MWSdefault.master and saved it to the site collection masterpage gallery. Now
it's available for this and any new workspaces.

Any other ideas?
