It was going to be earlier this month, but then people got motivated
to do management of services inside guests (which are also cluster
resources).
My current thinking is that we'll wait for that to be finished and call it 2.0

Does that help?

Re: [Pacemaker] [PACEMAKER] Why cant't migrate group resource with collation in drbd resource

2013-01-23 Thread Kashif Jawed Siddiqui
There is a Pacemaker bug which cannot be replaced due to legacy tracking and
backward compatibility

colocation FS_WITH_DRBD inf: IP-AND-FS ms_drbd:Master
order DRBD_BEF_FS inf: IP-AND-FS:start ms_drbd:promote

if colocation and order is specified between 2 Resources then it means the 2nd
one is the first and 1st one is the next

For example,
colocation FS_WITH_DRBD inf: IP-AND-FS ms_drbd:Master
//Actually means first start IP-AND-FS then make ms_drbd as Master
// But in behavior, it is first make ms_drbd as Master and then start IP-AND-FS

Also for order, it is the same behavior...
order DRBD_BEF_FS inf: IP-AND-FS:start ms_drbd:promote
//Actually means first start IP-AND-FS then promote ms_drbd
// But in behavior, it is first promote ms_drbd and then start IP-AND-FS

But when you define order and colocation between 3 or more resources, then the
interpretation is fine...

Therefore in your scenario, you must configure (as I said)
colocation FS_WITH_DRBD inf: IP-AND-FS ms_drbd:Master
order DRBD_BEF_FS inf: IP-AND-FS:start ms_drbd:promote

Though it means opposite, but the behavior is as you expect.(owing to Pacemaker
backward compatibility)

Emmanuel, you are right, filesystem is on top of drbd device, so i cant run
that group before drbd promote.

I also noticed that, I can migrate it by force with use:

crm_resource -M -f -r fs_r1 -H drbd02

master is promoted correctly, and group is succesfully migrated.

But i wonder why it doesn't work without force (-f) parameter ?? Any idea ?

I have encountered this few times, but I would like to know the possible

Put the resource in the unmanaged mode:

# crm resource meta VM_TEST is-managed false

Tell pacemaker not to remove deleted resources:

# crm configure property stop-orphan-resources=false

Remove the resource:

# crm configure delete VM_TEST

Remove operation records:

Set removing deleted resources (optional):

# crm configure property stop-orphan-resources=false

Hi,

colocation myset-1 inf: app2 app1
The above indicates app1 is the Dominant resource. If app1 is stopped, app2
also stops

The chain is app1 -> app2

Next,

colocation myset inf: app1 app2 app3

the above indiactes app1 is the Dominant resource.

If app1 is stopped, app2 & app3 also stops,

if app2 stops, then only app3 stops

The chain is app1 -> app2 -> app3

The above is equivalent of:

colocation myset-1 inf: app2 app1
colocation myset-2 inf: app3 app2

The question:

Why the ordering of allocating resource cannot follow one format? Why
difference of configuration?

Why not implement like below?

colocation myset-1 inf: app1 app2

The chain can be app1 -> app2

colocation myset-1 inf: app1 app2 app3

The chain is app1 -> app2 -> app3

And its equivalent (for easy understanding can be)

 colocation myset-1 inf: app1 app2

 colocation myset-2 inf: app2 app3

And so on..

Why is the diffrence in configuration for 2 resources only? More than 2
resources follow the same pattern.

Please help explain?

Kashif Jawed Siddiqui

Re: [Pacemaker] behaviour of failure-timeout

2012-09-13 Thread Kashif Jawed Siddiqui
Hi,

>>I could not find any detailed explanation in the doc, how
>>"failure-timeout" behaves, can someone clarify that?
failure-timout will clear the failcount if it has increased.(i.e the resources
have failed)
The cluster is primarily event driven but can have effect based on time. This
timout can be specified as cluster property known as cluster-recheck-interval.
The default is 15 mins

>>My rough understanding so far is, that after a failcount is increased,

Yes

>>- How does pacemaker check that, is it using a monitor operation?
As mentioned above, depends on any events or cluster-recheck-interval.
>>- are there re-checks at later times
Same as above

No. It is run on all nodes

Hi,

The below works perfectly fine :)

crm configure show Grp1 | sed 's/$/ newrsc/' | crm configure load update -

Please do take up to provide a command for the same in the future versions
of Pacemaker CRM.

Right. In a script:

crm configure show Grp1 | sed 's/$/ newrsc/' | crm configure load update -

Replace the sed script with whatever you need.

There's still no direct command to do this, but we're
considering that.

Re: [Pacemaker] How to add primitive resource to an already existing Group using crm

2012-09-12 Thread Kashif Jawed Siddiqui
Hi,

I would like to know is there a way to add new primitive resource to an
already existing group.

I know crm configure edit requires manual editing.

But is there a direct command?

Like,

crm configure group Grp1 Res1 Res2 Res3 ## This is used to create group

How to add new resource to existing group using command ?

Re: [Pacemaker] migrate resource for specified time: problem

2012-02-05 Thread Kashif Jawed Siddiqui
This problem is observed when the system time is not set to GMT or UTC.

Example, if system time is in IST format, then it is GMT+5:30.

During time normalization in iso8601_fields.c, it is causing the error
conversion of time.

I will mail the detailed probable fix soon.

Re: [Pacemaker] How to start resources in a Resource Group in parallel

2012-01-31 Thread Kashif Jawed Siddiqui
Hi,
Yes it has to be provided in init scripts of corosync or heartbeat. But
for corosync 1.4.2 for SLES, it is not provided.

Can you help me update corosync init script to include to same?

   Sample script will definitly help.

Thanks in advance.

It is not heartbeat or corosync specific, but depends on support
in the init script (/etc/init.d/corosync). The init script should
read the sysconfig file and then invoke lrmadmin to set the max
children parameter.

Re: [Pacemaker] How to start resources in a Resource Group in parallel

2012-01-31 Thread Kashif Jawed Siddiqui
Hi Andrew,

It is the LRMD_MAX_CHILDREN limit which by default is 4.

I see in forums that this parameter is tunable by adding
/etc/sysconfig/pacemaker
with the following line as content
   LRMD_MAX_CHILDREN=8

But the above works only for Hearbeat. How do we do it for Corosync?

  can you suggest?

Re: [Pacemaker] How to start resources in a Resource Group in parallel

2011-12-01 Thread Kashif Jawed Siddiqui
Hi All,

I am using pacemaker 1.0.11 + corosync 1.4.2 for a 2 node cluster.

The old cib.xml for Heartbeat based cluster had an option "ordered=true |
false" for "group" tag which supported starting of resources in series or
parallel.

By default, resources in Resource Group start in serial order for Pacemaker
based clusters.

Is there a way to start multiple resources in parallel?
