in the provisioner, you can check out the chef.github.io/bento's preseed but you need "execute_command": "echo 'vagrant' | {{.Vars}} sudo -S -E sh -eux '{{.Path}}'", in the provisioners part so that it can run as root, because provisioners are run in root. i have tested 1.4.2, 1.41 1.4.0 is all the same, and yes I have launched the GUI and verify the GUI works manually, but the boot_command doesn't do anything. I downgraded to 1.3.5 just to see if it helps or not. I tried everything i can think of.
