I fixed ldvd in the Packman repository by porting the code from
Gtk 1.x to Gtk2 (yikes). ldvd is old and unmaintained, so that
was never done by upstream.

I only really did a quick checked and it seems to work okay, but
if anything goes bad, please re-open the bug and let me know by
email.

Thanks, done, the Requires:binutils is in tovid >=
0.33-0.pm.2.1, which will be pulled by the mirrors in <= 4
  hours.

I had a problem with the tovid gui application that came down to a missing
component called strings which is in binutils. installing binutils fixed the
issue.
Perhaps the binutils should be made a dependancy and installed with the
tovid gui rpm.

thanks for an update. It works... in a sense that i can launch Openshot. But
it dies every time I start exporting video:

   OpenShot (version 1.3.0)

seems related to bug #681409, added a notice in this bug report

open bug 684732

also open a bug #684730 to ask for consistency. Some apps are found in
media editing menu, others in cd/dvd burning menu.
