[packman] MPlayer broken for .flv files

2011-04-24 Thread Olaf Hering

For me mplayer does not play flv files anymore. This happend after the
packman repo reorganisation from a flat directory to the
Essentials,Extra,Games, etc. subdirs. I dont have a specific date when it
broke. The first version that did not work is this, todays version does
not work either:

...
Name: MPlayer Relocations: (not relocatable)
Version : 1.0rc4_r33179 Vendor:
http://packman.links2linux.de
Release : 1.pm.1.1 Build Date: Fr 01 Apr 2011 23:23:32
CEST
Install Date: Mi 20 Apr 2011 10:05:00 CEST Build Host: eckhaus
Group : Productivity/Multimedia/Video/Players Source RPM:
MPlayer-1.0rc4_r33179-1.pm.1.1.src.rpm
...

Hopefully this is not a rude form of forcing me to upgrade to 11.3 or newer.
However, I just checked on a 11.3 installation and it does not work there
either.

Should an Intel or ATI card driver support vdpau?

Looks like /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf is broken.
It seems to force vdpau just for the kicks.

It wants to use version 1.0:

 6505 ?Sl 0:01 totem /run/media/olaf/SATIVEX
 6528 ?Sl 0:00 \_ /usr/lib/gst-install-plugins-helper
--transient-for=27262991 gstreamer|1.0|totem|DVD subpicture
decoder|decoder-subpicture/x-dvd

Could be all the fault of /usr/lib/gst-install-plugins-helper, because at some
point it wanted to install plugins-bad 1.0.10 and 1.2.1 at the very same time.

And now after a reboot, it always wants to grab both:

2013-11-15 10:10:44 <1> optiplex(3506) [zypp] SATResolver.cc(problems):1149
cannot install both gstreamer-plugins-ugly-1.2.1-2.1.x86_64 and
gstreamer-plugins-ugly-1.0.10-2.1.3.x86_64

gstreamer-plugins-ugly-1.2.1-2.1.x86_64 is already installed. No idea what
would actually provide decoder-subpicture/x-dvd.

I think yes. With 13.1 and gnome.ymp these packages are not
automatically installed for me:

 gstreamer-plugins-bad 1.2.1
 gstreamer-plugins-libav 1.2.0

As a result mp4 videos from ZDF Mediathek can not be played.
Does it work out-of-the-box for anyone else?

Actually none of the gstream plugins is listed in the ymp file. Why is
that?
And is there a smooth way to install these packages? The yast2 software
part always finds conflicts which can only be resolved by forcing a
vendor change. Can such questions be avoided?

[packman] prjconf for 11.4 broken

2014-04-22 Thread Olaf Hering

I'm not sure why 'osc build' does not find the packages from Essentials:

unresolvable: nothing provides libdvbpsi-devel < 1.0, nothing provides taglib =
1.6.2 needed by taglib-devel

taglib and libdvbpsi builds fine.
Maybe the prjconf is broken? Why is there a '=' appended?

taglib-devel is provided by libtag-devel-1.9.1-74.1.x86_64.rpm, which is
supposed to provide taglib = 1.9.1. But for some reason its not
recognized. Any idea why that happens? Does the buildservice just look
for package names when resolving BuildRequires? If so, perhaps something
should be added to prjconf.

Perhaps he was not aware of that, or the docs are outdated.
And now that I look more closely, all changed Substitute: lines affect
only 11.2 and older.

So maybe that change can be reverted.

Is that change also the reason for failed dependencies in libmlt?

Waiting for a new version in Factory means the problem exists longer,
compared to the devel package.

I have made that change already. Unfortunately MPlayer has no support
for the current live555 API, so I applied a patch to get it going. Not

packman just links to that external package.
Similar for libmlt (I assume thats what you mean):

[packman] Factory and openSUSE_Tumbleweed merger

With the merge of Factory and openSUSE_Tumbleweed we can save some
cycles. Both repositories will be based on identical OBS sources. So for
PMBS we can remove one of them.

This means the publisher needs an update. Maybe it helps current users
of both repos of the one that gets removed is symlinked to the one which
remains.

coolo put it nicely: "There are no Factory users, there are only
Factory developers. And they develop Tumbleweed, which is developed in
Factory for Tumbleweed users."

IMO packman is for users. And Tumbleweed is for users, so thats what we
should provide. There is also that fast moving target "Factory" which
will most likely cause many of rebuilds. Those rebuilds are wasted time
because the delta between Tumbleweed and Factory will be small. I think
there is enough time to catch up with changes in Factory.

So we should provide just a single repo for "Tumbleweed". The name in
the URL is likely fixed due to the way publishing works. So I propose
to have just this entry in 'meta prj':

x86_64
i586

The existing 'Factory' should be removed.

Its usually done this way:

Obsoletes: Y < %{version}

But if for some reason Y had a higher version than X the Obsoletes: has

Does the package replace a directory "xbmc" with a symlink "xbmc"?
The easiest fix is to drop the newly added symlink.

Factory and TW are somehow broken, most packages fail to build. No idea

I triggered a rebuild of failed packages in

[packman] compiler starts crashing in PMBS

2015-05-07 Thread Olaf Hering
Since one or two weeks the compiler starts crashing in the 11.4 repos.
It looks like that happens also for packages that used to compile just
fine before. Did anything change in the VM setup, do they still get
enough runtime memory?

This happens currently with gpac, mjpegtools, mplayer2, sox, vlc,
xine-lib-12, gogglesmm, ncmpcpp, slowmovideo, xine-browser-plugins,
xmms2 and perhaps more.

A local build of gpac for openSUSE_11.4 x86_64 works fine, so I think
the issue is in PMBS and its VMs.

By accident I linked the package to the devel project of
openSUSE:Factory. But this version is broken, it supports nothing but
Factory. So I linked it back to the original OBS prj. Since that package
needs an update the build did not start yet.

Too bad, during the short period of time where the _link pointed to the
wrong OBS prj the pkg was built and published. Sory for that.

I think the package links against the interesting other packages:
libmlt, ffmpeg and others. If they change the kdenlive package provided
by the released version will not work anymore.

Since the culprit seems to be libmlt in this case (Qt5 vs. Qt4) the
Factory kdenlive should be changed to be build the same way as libmlt.

Right now kdenlive.spec is just broken. Does anyone know why they insist
on Qt5?

You got a kdenlive with Qt5 and a libmlt with Qt4.

kdenlive for Factory/TW.

What repos do you have? I see ffmpeg in KDE:Applications,
KDE:Unstable:Applications and KDE:Unstable:Frameworks. Since the ffmpeg
in OBS is independent from ffmpeg in PMBS there may be confusion.

Is there a way to tell the scheduler to skip oqr-wk2 as worker when
attempting to build packages for openSUSE_11.4:x86_64 to avoid ICEs?

It requires the old libcec2, but libcec3 is now the only available
variant. Either libcec2 gets reintroduced, or kodi should be updated to
mainline.

[packman] armv6l build hangs in 13.1

2015-07-06 Thread Olaf Hering

Is anyone using armv6l anyway, and if so is that someone using 13.1?
For some reason installing kernel-obs takes several hours. Not sure if
the build gets a time-out again this time, see Essentials/ffmpeg.

Given the overall low quality of the armv6l target I suggest to build
just Factory and 13.2.

The cmake package is already built for 13.1 in Essentials.

I'm not sure what to do with Qt5. Perhaps we can try to link that one
into packman and build it only for 13.1. It requires 9G disk and 3.5G
memory to build. Is it required to build obs-studio in packman, perhaps
OBS itself is a better place for it.

Packages like cairo-devel require pkgconfig(egl), which maps to
Mesa-libEGL-devel.
Unfortunately raspberrypi provides only package names, which seems to
make the prjconf setting mostly useless. And a Substitute does not help.

I wonder if anyone would notice if all packages that fail in such way
get disabled and wiped.

I think this SR is the correct approach.

https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/317247

But looks like at least 13.1 uses a very old variant of that package.

I also tweaked the _constraints file. But in the end it has to be
wiped from PMBS because (most likely) all it needs is ffmpeg libs from
PMBS. If its build properly in OBS one should just exchange the libs it

[packman] moving some parts of PMBS to OBS

2015-07-28 Thread Olaf Hering

Many packages in PMBS are just built to satisfy BuildRequires. Only very
few of them are actually needed at runtime. Each of those packages could
be in OBS. Doing it that way would reduce the turnaround time in PMBS I
think.

Does anyone would object to move them to a OBS project which hosts just
those BuildRequires? What would work would be something like:

OBS gets a new project named "$whatever" which contains all the
perl/pyton/... packages. This project gets the exact same set of
repositories as Essentials has right now. Essentials in turn does not
link against (for example) "openSUSE.org:openSUSE:13.2:Update/standard"
anymore but instead to that new OBS project
"openSUSE.org:$whatever/openSUSE_13.2".

Creating a new toplevel project in OBS shouldnt be that hard.
