[Paraview] Integrate Variables + Boxes

2009-11-25 Thread bastil2...@yahoo.de
Today I had a funny time with th eIntegrate Variables Filter. I got
reasonable results for variables and volumes but both were negative
instead of positive Strange.
I also had some fun in positioning an ExtractMeshByRegion Box using
Tranlation/Rotation/Scale. Especially translation is unclear to me how
it works. Why does in not use the Center and length convention from the
Box-source? I used a box-source to position my extraction.

Re: [Paraview] Integrate Variables + Boxes

2009-11-30 Thread Moreland, Kenneth
What is the type of your data? This is a total guess, but is it possible that
your cells are inverted? That is, the topology defined in such a way that the
points of the cells are defined in the wrong order such that the same faces are
defined but in a clockwise instead of counterclockwise order (or vice versa).
This could make the cells look right but cause volume calculations to become
inverted.

That's a good point about the Box 3D widget. The Box 3D widget was originally
designed for the transform filter. Thus, its transformation is relative to the
bounding box of the original data. This makes sense for the translate filter
where these values will correspond to the affine transformation applied by the
filter. For filters like clip and extract cells by region, I can see how this
makes far less sense.

I'm not totally sure what the best way to parameterize the box is. Should it
be the coordinates of two opposite corners? Should it be center and lengths?
What about rotations? (Do we care about rotations?)
