Re: inquiring about Rhapsody

2004-04-18 Thread Stuart Russell
Let me point out that once you get past the opening screen, you are able
to search & select artists & albums. That portion of the service is like
any standard web page. What we need is some redesign of the player.

It sounds like a problem we had with AOL in the beginning, before that

Re: inquiring about Rhapsody

2004-04-18 Thread Stuart Russell
There are definitely some problems with Rhapsody. The initial screen
presents you with a selection of graphics which are all unlabeled. Finding
the correct one can be challenging. For example, Graphic 800 brings up
Rhapsody radio stations. Once you get past the initial screen much of the
content is accessible. Rhapsody is a large library of music which can be
searched & the quality is equal to that of a cd. In order to make the
service accessible, the player graphics need to be labeled. Rather than
giving up on Rhapsody, I suggest that members of this list subscribe & then
start making phone calls to Real Networks customer service.
If 50 subscribers made 2 phone calls each week, the marketing department
would certainly take notice.

Re: Windows Millenium and Eudora?

2004-04-18 Thread Chris Skarstad
Hi Ray

Nah, you didn't come off sounding that way at all. I do think you'd get a
better answer from the access, or possibly even blindtech lists, as this
list deals pretty exclusively with audio on the pc, not with the use of
Eudora or other programs like that. Anyways, no harm done, at least not to me.

Re: inquiring about Rhapsody

Hi. I found it totally unaccessible with window-eyes. I don't believe that
jfw users had any better luck, but was a year ago or so.

Hello listers,
I apologize if this has been previously covered or is off topic but was not
sure where else to post the question.
The subject line says it--I'd appreciate comments on anyone's experience
with Rhapsody which I was considering trying. I want to find out as much as
possible before downloading the trial version. Does it allow for files to
be streamed via Winamp or one of the other players or does it require an
embedded player for this? Are all links and functions accessible with JAWS?
Is it free of ads and spyware or will i be bothered with a lot of other
garbage if I install it? I assume there is a monthly cost for using the
service and then an additional fee for downloads, is this correct?
Finally, is the trial version fully functional and what are the actual costs
per download or use? Sorry for all the questions, but I found the website
rather vague on a lot of these points. I may think of other things I'd want
to know but these are my biggest concerns at the moment. Please feel free
to write me on or off list with your experiences.

Re: Windows Millenium and Eudora?

2004-04-18 Thread Ray Sewell
Hi Dave,

I apologize if the subject of a system like Eudora and Windows Me is not on
subject. I assumed that the use of a mail server like Eudora and Windows is
connected to audio as what I was asking was the best way for a blind user to
handle mail that is spoken. If I was wrong I sincerely apologize.

Best wishes, Ray Sewell.

Windows Millenium and Eudora?

2004-04-18 Thread Ray Sewell
Hi folks,

I am using Windows Millenium with a large hard drive with lots of free memory. I have
an older copy of Eudora, I think Version 5.1, and when I tried to install this
programme I ran into a real mess of trouble. Right after the installation my computer
would not work the way it is supposed to do. Speech would not workor Outlook Express.
There were many strange files created which came up anytime one tried to move around
in the system. I finally had to have my sighted wife help out by visually using the
add-remove setup to remove all the Eudora files.

Once Eudora was gone the system began working properly once again. I am assuming that
the copy of Eudora I have is corrupted in some way.

My question is this: Will Eudora work all right on a system like Millenium? Is there
a better version of Eudora I should perhaps use? Any help will be gratefully
accepted. I will be quite happy to purchase the necessary version of Eudora.

Many thanks in advance. Cheers, Ray Sewell.

Re: Winamp Equalizer

2004-04-18 Thread Chris Skarstad
hi. sure is. it's just as accessible as it was before, not sure why you're
having a problem? Remember, you have to first hit alt g to open the
equalizer window, and then the letter n key turns it on. it's a toggle so
pressing n turns it off again.
Winamp 5.03 is *just* as accessible as it was in previous versions, as long
as you have the classic skin selected. the modern skin, if it's selected
will give you problems. so keep that classic skin selected at all times,
and if you're familiar at all with Winamp and how it works, you will notice
absolutely no differences. A few small things are different like the
bookmarks were moved into the library, but other than that, the interface
is exactly the same as before, absolutely no difference.

At 07:47 AM 4/18/2004, you wrote:
Is there any way to use the equalizer in Winamp 5.03 with Jaws?

An mp3 splittting, and joining program.

2004-04-18 Thread Gina Grunden
Does anyone know of one program, that's not Soundforge, Cool Edit, or Goldwave,
where you can split, and join MP3's in the same program? Someone on this list
sent me a wonderful program to join them, and someone had mentioned just the
other day, bout DirectCut, but I didn't know if there was a freeware program
where you can split, and join mp3's in one program. It's no big deal if you
can't, I was just curious.

inquiring about Rhapsody

2004-04-18 Thread Susan Wojtecki

Susan

Re: Tagging mp3 files

2004-04-18 Thread Dave Reynolds
Wt up until now, but my external mp3 player uses the tags to organize its
database. The tag can be different from the actual file name, and I want
them to be the same. When playing in winamp, the tags aren't a problem
because the songs play in alphabetic sequence, but on my external player,
the tags are used, and if they contain nothing or contain rubbish, the
tracks will play in the wrong sequence. I hope this gives you some idea.
Dave.

Turn it on with alt g and when in the equalizer window use the n key to
toggle. You can find written instructions by Jonathan Mosen on the acbradio

RE: fixing up old tape recordings

2004-04-18 Thread Dale E. Heltzer
Generally speaking, voice frequencies are below 3000Hz. If your audio
editing programs have filtering modules, try emphasizing this range,
attenuating the rest. There may be presets for this purpose.
