rhapsody
Is anyone still using Rhapsody? Thanks to Tim Grady from this list, I was using it pretty successfully with Window Eyes. Then, several weeks ago, I had no choice and had to download the newer version. Since then, my luck has been dismal. I would appreciate hearing how people manage to get to the edit box to type in the artist you are seeking. Before, i clicked on the third occurrence of the word artist in the rhapsody application window, but that no longer works for me. any help will be greatly appreciated. If like me folks are having issues with its access since the new version, maybe we should contact them directly by mail or phone? If so, let's organize this effort off this list. But first, maybe I am just missing something and you guys can help me figure it out. You can see a trial version of Rhapsody at www.listen.com Thanks for any help you can give me. Re: Coppying CD's with Nero
If you only have 1 drive, then you will have to do it to the hard drive first then burn. I just got a second drive and I think you can designate a source drive and a destination drive. If you have 2 drives and 1 doesn't work, you'll do a lot better by getting a 2nd drive and getting someone to install it. They're really cheap these days. I replaced my cdrom drive, which didn't work anymore, with a combo drive for $48. I got this one at a computer show, but I've seen them online for very close to the same price, so if you can, just get it fixed and don't worry about making an image on the hard drive and then burning it from that. - Original Message - From: "Gina Grunden" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Thanks Leonard. Re: burning in nero bottom file appears first
if you are burning an audio cd, you can select the track you wish to move and press ctrl+x to cut and if you wish it to be the last track, you must move to the last track press ctrl+v and then select the last track because the one you just moved is next to the last track and press ctlr+x to cut it and move it where you wish that track to be. remember when moving a track, it is placed before the track highlighted. on Friday 8/13/2004 02:44 PM, lloyd fuge said: I have the problem in both audio and data burning that the last item in a compilation appears first in the list regardless of how I attempt to load into the compilation. Re: Coppying CD's with Nero
Hi Gina. Hope the notes pasted below may be of some use. Using Nero to copy a CD 1. You can configure Nero to present the new compilation dialogue in preferences. To do this: a. Press Alt + F to open the File Menu. b. Arrow down to Preferences and press enter c. Press spacebar on the first checkbox to check start with New compilation d. Tab to the OK button and press spacebar to save the settings. 2. Now when you start Nero, you will see the new compilation dialogue and you will be placed on the multisession tab. 3. To copy a CD: a. Press shift + tab until you reach the combo box that allows you to select what task you wish to perform. This will usually be defaulted to CD-ROM which is used for data compilations. b. Arrow down in the list until you reach CD-Copy c. You will now be placed in the Burn tab. If you have used Nero to copy a number of CD’s you won’t need to change anything on any of the other tabs but it is useful to review the details. d. Press shift + tab until you reach the Burn tab and then use your left arrow to move through the tabs until you reach the Image tab. e. Use the tab key to review the controls on this tab. The only two real controls of interest are the “Delete image after burning” and the path to which the image file will be saved. If you are unlikely to burn multiple copies of CD’s at a given time then it is recommended that you check the delete image control. However, if you do wish to burn multiple copies of a CD then you may wish to save the image and burn from this later rather than have Nero read the source CD again to perform the subsequent copies. f. Press tab until you reach Image tab again and use the right arrow to review the next tab. g. The Copy Options tab again has two controls that are of interest. The “on the fly” control and the combo box that allows you to select which of your drives will be used for the source CD. Best results are obtained by allowing Nero to create an image of the source CD so it is advisable to uncheck the “on the fly” control. Ensure that the drive where you have inserted your source CD is selected in the combo box. Nero will already have detected your burner. h. Press tab until you reach Copy Options tab and then use the right arrow key to review the next tab. i. Most of the controls on the Read Options tab will be set as required by default. However you may wish to tab to the “Use jitter correction” control and check this to obtain best results. This will slow the copy down but it’ s worth the extra time needed to get the best copy possible. j. Press tab until you reach Read Options tab and use the right arrow to review the controls on the next tab k. The Burn tab has a number of controls of interest. Best results are obtained by checking the check box for “Determine maximum speed” and “Simulation”. Check the check box to “Write” check box and select the speed at which you wish to burn in the combo box. Best results are achieved by slowing the burn down as slow as your patience will allow. Set the write method to disc-at-once if it is not already selected, set the number of copies as appropriate and tab to the Copy button. l. If you have your source CD and a blank CD in your drives, press spacebar to begin the Copy. 4. It is advisable to close all other running applications before starting the burn as the process is very processor intensive. 5. If you would rather not have Nero start with the new compilation dialogue or you accidentally dismiss the dialogue before starting the copy, you can open the dialogue from the file menu. a. Press alt + F to open the File Menu b. Arrow down until you reach CD-Copy and press enter c. Follow the instructions as outlined above 6. If you have the Nero wizard enabled then you will see a subset of the controls detailed here but for those that are offered to you by the wizard, the same principles apply. Hi Gina, I'm not a pro. at it. what I do though, is when I put the CD I want to copy in the drive, I choose the "copy music" option, which I get as one of a list of seven, in my case the drive spins, and when it stops, I change the CD for a blank then I get the option to "create a CD" option, in Nero, then just I just go to "burn" and it makes a copy of the original. h t h ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: still having driver conflicts
Dain, Thanks much for your response. Having never installed drivers before, this is out of my depth. Guess I have to decide whether to enlist the help of my techie son for this great adventure or leave well enough alone until I can upgrade. This PC is about four years old and works pretty well in spite of heavy use, but I can't afford to be computerless if I screw this up, you know the dilemma. I get the impression TR works better out of the box with XP, we'll see when the time comes. Ideally, I'd like to upgrade in about six months and can recycle this PC to my daughter, whose system is in worse shape than mine because of the junk she puts on it. As I said, this is not an urgent problem, but probably could become one if I mess it up. There's also a local shop that could no doubt do this easily and reasonably--it's just a question of priorities--we need a new printer as well, that isn't working at all. Oh well, always something.
