Is Nero Express different from Nero?

2004-08-21 Thread Barry Chapman
Hi all,

After some recent changes to my PC, the software was upgraded from Nero 5 to
Nero Express 6. Nero Express works completely differently from Nero 5 which
I was used to and appears to be a lot less speech friendly.

I have read that Nero 6 is supposed to work well with JAWS, so perhaps there
is a difference between Nero and Nero Express. Any advice would be
appreciated.

Thanks,
Barry Chapman

Re: Is Nero Express different from Nero?

2004-08-21 Thread Netmail
Hi. You need to get yourself a copy of Niro Burning ROM 6, preferably the
Ultra Addition.

There are many significant differences between Express and Burning ROM, but
the interface is perhaps the most significant for us, because in Express,
they've gone for a custom window type, which looks lovely and easy to use if
you're a sighty, where as Burning ROM is a much more serious application and
therefore looks more boring and conforms to Microsoft programming standards
more closely.

Niro Express was really released to be distributed as bundled OEM software
on computers being sold with a CD writer as part of the package. It is very
cut down, and cannot burn as many types of disk for example.

The only problem you will find with version 6 in the Ultra Addition, is that
they have done away with the lovely CD Wizard! Bleh! They've gone for this
really weird kind of Winamp style options screen, you know? With the tree
view down the left which you move up and down, and then all the options on
the right, which obviously change depending on what you've selected in the
tree view.

Well anyway, hope that helps. If you struggle to get your hands on Niro
Burning ROM 6 Ultra Addition, gimmi a shout. I can help you with Burning ROM
5.9.9.17. Not the best in the world, but it'll get you started anyway, and
it is very accessible. It does not like some DVD burners however!

Thanks,

Matt B

Hi Azhar.

You can find the keystrokes in Windows Media Player by opening the Help menu
with alt+H and pressing enter to open the contents list.

Arrow down until you see the Using short cut and accelerator keys and
press the right arrow key to open the topic. You will now see a list of
topics on which you can press enter to obtain all the short cut and
accelerator keys information.

I've pasted a sample below from the Play submenu.

 Hi,

It seems to me that that was a truly annoying feature in earlier
versions, one, indeed, that kept me from using nero regularly. Then, I
was
in a position where I couldn't make roxio run, on my laptop, and needed
something quickly. I downloaded the new version 6.0 and low and behold,
the problem's gone. A tip I just picked up, when you cursor over a tune
you want in your compilation, press cntrl 1 and the song goes next in
line. Hope this helps someone and it is rare when I use roxio anymore.

 Rusty

I am aware of this drag and drop process, but I was too foolish to think
of
using it. I'll give it a try this afternoon.

 Thanks for the reminder.

   Hi Lloyd,

If you use JAWS, you can move data files around in Nero by using the
drag
and drop feature. Find the file you want with the JAWS cursor, press
Jawskey+numpad slash to lock the left mouse, move the JAWS cursor to
where
you want to move the file to and press Jawskey+numpad slash again to
 unlock
the mouse and drop the file. I am sure WE has a similar option.

if you are burning an audio cd, you can select the track you wish to
 move
and press ctrl+x to cut and if you wish it to be the last track, you
 must
move to the last track press ctrl+v and then select the last track
 because
the one you just moved is next to the last track and press ctlr+x to
cut
   it
and move it where you wish that track to be. remember when moving a
 track,
it is placed before the track highlighted.

Hello, try RealWavRecorder. This program will take a .ram file and play it
straight through, converting it into a .wav file. If you're file is long,
either enjoy it while it plays or run it overnight, because it plays the
entire file through. You of course have to configure it first, which isn't
too big of a process. E-mail me if you can't find the program.
