RE: Archos and Rock Box

The easist way is to find a sighted person to look at the manual, but I'm not sure it
will help because the manual is bad. Look at the text document of the on line manual
for rockbox. It might help you.

MSN add-in

2004-10-06 Thread Roger R. Cusson
I just wanted to make my message of earlier a bit clearer.

When one first installs Win XP, they have already, a program called Windows
Messenger. When they next try to do something that needed an add-on
component, they use to be directed right to the add-in site, and receive a
small file, to voice chat, check e-mail and anything else that could not be
done with out the use of that special add-in component.

It is that small file which use to be a *.EXE installer. You would click on
it after the download, and instantly, all features of the windows messenger
would be available.

I need to get this plug in if at all possible. please help

Re: info on the turtle beach santa cruz

2004-10-06 Thread Rocker
I beg to differ on that one dude!

While you have to install the driver and yes, the control panel is as
inaccessible as creative products: The T.B card is infinitely superior in
sound quality and performance then any Creative product I have tried. For
the buck it is one of the best cards on the market today.

You will have to install the driver.
Software is even more inaccessible than SoundBlaster and responsiveness is
worse.
My suggestion is try something else.

Problem With Total Recorder

2004-10-06 Thread Tom Kaufman
Hello List: I am new to this list..and have a problem with a program called
"Total Recorder." It seems as I cannot get the program to record what I
want it to record..which is basically things from the internet..or other
things like MP3s..andsoforth. I use a screenreader called "Jaws" The
version I'm using is an older version, 3.7u, to be exact..and am running
Windows ME. As far as I can tell, I have everything checked as it should
be. A friend of mine and I have been working on this problem for a few
weeks now; when I first installed the program, it worked good..as long as I
recorded manually. But if I tried to record something, using the
"scheduler", that's where I began experiencing problems; I would get a
"blank" file..even though..according to what I saw on the screen, it looked
as though it had a signal. Since then, I (along with a friend of mine) have
tried everything under the sun to get it working..to no avail..if anything,
it only has made things worse! Since I still think of myself as somewhat of
a noves to the computer, when replying to this post, I would apprecaite it
if you could give your answers in simple terms. I apologize for this
post..being a bit long. Look forward to your responses..and thanks for any
help or info you can provide me ahead of time.

Hi Janet: Since you offered to forward my problem to PC Audio, I figured
I'd take you up on hyour offer. Here's the problem with Total Recorder:
I'm trying to get it to record from my soundcard: speciffically from audio
streams and such. However..seems as no matter what I do, it insists on
recording the microphone..which..is not what I'm wanting to do! One of
the
things that I wish to record is a show from WSMonline. So
if..possibly..some from PC Audio would be interested in helping me, it
would
be most appreciated; I'm using Jaws 3.7u..and as you know..am running
'Windows ME." My other problem..although it isn't quite as
severe..involves
"Outlook Express"; I'm running "Outlook Express 5.5. Just a couple of
days
ago, I began to notice that, every now and then, when I try to send a
message, a dialog box appears, telling me that the message cannot be sent;
that an "error" has occured"..nothing more; it doesn't tell me what the
error is about..nothing! So if you'd want to forward this to the PC Audio

MSN Plug ins

Does anyone out there have the small MSN Messenger plug-in, which is of
course no longer available?

I have a few clients that wish to speak via their microphone and check their

If any one ever saved that small plug- in on their system, and can forward

Hello PTusing,
My new pc came also with the soundcard on the motherboard & Windows XP;
while the Sound Max worked, I did not like it at all, mostly because of the
very low volume it gave for the microphone.
After trying various things, I bought a new Sound Blaster Live from Micro
Center for $30 which pleased me all around, including greater volume with
the mike.
The Phone# for Micro Center is:

1-800-634-3478

The audio for music is fantastic & works well with Jaws & has multiple
channels.

Hi George,
What I do is hit alt-f and I do get a file menu. Then I press i

read this screen. Where Nero doesn't give you the amount of time, it does
give you the amount of data, so you can judge from that info how close to
getting full your cd is getting. Hope this helps. Good luck.

hi, also agree with simon. it's okay for a complete novice maybe, but even
then the price tag is a bit hefty. roxio and nero are perfectly accessible
these days and quite often come preinstalled on a pc or come with a new cd
drive/burner. and, can be bought for less than the Premier CD software. plus
nero/roxio have massive advantages in the features they offer. personally, i
wouldn't waste my money on the premier model. not nocking what they've done,

Hello Folks:

On behalf of my clients, I am looking for someone who is very familiar with
cd and dvd creating software who would give me a comparison between Premier
CD/DVD Creator and other accessible software cd/dvd creating packages. For

The question is whether or not the $59.00 US price tag for the Premier
CD/DVD Creator software would buy a comparable product to the ones sold in
the regular market place.

Any help would be appreciated all over the place.

Well if you go to volume control there is 1 button in
playback that says advanced, hit enter on that and
check the box that says microphone boost.
It's easy to find because it's the only button in the

hi Jim, leave it well alone, it doesn't have a copy feature on it also,
stick to roxio or Nero.
there are some grate tutorials out there both for roxio which I use and I am

there are a lot more functionality with both programs rather than the

if your friend is just starting out they can evaluate the pprog for 30 days
I think or 45 burns.
it is ok for the novice user just starting out, but many computers come with
a version of Nero or roxio already installed inclusive in the price.

 Subject: Premier CD/DVD Creator

 Hello Folks:
On behalf of my clients, I am looking for someone who is very familiar
with cd and dvd creating software who would give me a comparison between
Premier CD/DVD Creator and other accessible software cd/dvd creating
packages. For example: I don't think that the Premier CD/DVD Creator
software can create labels.

The question is whether or not the $59.00 US price tag for the Premier
CD/DVD Creator software would buy a comparable product to the ones sold in
the regular market place.

Any help would be appreciated all over the place.

Re: Premier CD/DVD Creator

2004-10-06 Thread simon.dowling
hi Jim, leave it well alone, it doesn't have a copy feature on it also, stick to roxio
or Nero.
there are some grate tutorials out there both for roxio which I use and I am totally
blind, and Nero which many people use without too many problems.
there are a lot more functionality with both programs rather than the premier program.

Total Recorder playback volume

2004-10-06 Thread Dawn Yerton
I am using Total Recorder 45 professional with Windows XP and Jaws 51.
I am trying to record Jaws reading a WordPad document. I have sound board
checked in total recorder. It does the recording, but the volume is very
low when I playback the recording.

Is there something I can change to bring this volume up higher.

Re: question about CD burners and software

2004-10-06 Thread Jay Williams
Hi,
I'm sher you'll get more specific replies, but I do know that in most such
programs there are options you can choose that do change burning
characteristics. This does presume what to me, at least, are pretty
advanced notions of when and why one would change from the defaults. The
defaults assume that you wanna play the thing on a conventional machine in
a conventional way etc.

question about CD burners and software

2004-10-06 Thread stever2525
This question may seem a bit confusing in how I am asking. Does the software
one uses have any affect on the burning of a CD and are there burners that
burn better than others. I come from an analogue background where everything
is a part of the result, source, type of recorder, setting levels, and so
on. If I find a burning software program I like, will it matter which one,
and will the end result then be dependent on my burner, and are their higher
quality burners. thank you
