Nero Express and making audio CDs
Hi everyone, Tonight I attempted to burn a music, audio, CD from a compilation of MP3 files on my computer. It appears as if the process went fine, but when I placed the CD in my CD player, it wouldn't play. However, when I placed it in my new DVD player, which plays just about anything from DVDs to MP3 and audio CDs, it played just fine. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here,a and why the CD would not play in my CD player? Thanks. ~Ann -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Re: bookmarking an mp3 file
Thanks Marty and Michael. It looks like using winamp or any common software, I'll have to remember how much I listened to before I went to sleep. It's probably as good; I don't think I'd wake up to set a bookmark. Howard At 09:36 PM 1/11/2005, Michael Lang wrote: Yes, it can be done with the Daisy players from VisuAide, Plextor and proberbly with the BookPort and BookCourier too. There are also regular MP3 hardware players, with which one can do that, but they're not so accessible. For instance, setting a bookmark with my Nextway NMP-612T is easy, I just have to press a button. But to delete it, I'd have to use the menu system. <*** Michael Lang ***> You wrote: > Hello all, > I'm wondering if there's a software--or hardware--mp3 player that allows > you to place a bookmark in a long file and return to it another > time? RE: Nero Express and making audio CDs
Ann: A couple of gthings might be causing this problem. First, are you burning the files to cdrw (cd rewritable) disks or cdr (cd writable) disks? Most standard cd players will only read cdr disks, so this is what you have to use when burning. Secondly, you have to be sure you are telling Nero that you want to create an audio cd. Otherwise it just burns the data files to the cd and standard cd players can't read this. I don't have a copy of Nero, so I can't tell you where to check this, but I am sure someone can if indeed this is your problem. Finally, this probably isn't necessary, but whenever I create an audio cd, I always convert my mp3 files to wav files. Like I say, probably not necessary, but I've just had better luck creating audio cd's when I do this. Hope this helps. Re: DVD disc Vs. Format
When I was checking out the Panasonic DVD players, I heard that they had the capability for DVD ram. What is that? ah yes, DVD Ram is basically the Betamax format of the DVD Recordable format wars. well actually this isn't exactly true; there are DVD+R and DVD-R, but both of these are still around - DVD Ram isn't (much). (Betamax - for anyone who wants to know - was the competing format to VHS)! history has a strange way of repeating this same mess, again and again, the current players are HD DVD and Blu Ray discs. Re: Nero Express and making audio CDs
Well, my sighted nephew was down when I was attempting to play the burned CD, an when I played in in the DVD player, it showed that it is apparently burned in the CDDA, audio CD, format. I had also wondered if the files might not have been burned to a data CD although I had selected the Audio CD format specifically. I am also using CDr discs. I learned years ago that most CD players would not play the RW discs. So, it's a real mystery as to why it would not play I the DVD player. I have never had to convert MP3 files to wav when making audio CDs before, and I hope this is not now the case. ~Ann - Original Message - From: "Jim Denham" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Anne, How fast did you burn that cd? I ask because I have several cd players and will experience the same thing you describe unless I burn at a very slow rate. Some media can handle faster burning speeds than others, and also some especially older players cannot read cds burned at a fast rate. Re: bookmarking an mp3 file
Oh boy, that depends, what are you looking for in an MP3 player? Do you want a hard drive player, or do you want to be able to play CD's? Do you want a radio and a recorder? Do you want it to play Audible books? How much do you want to spend? Lets see, not knowing exactly what you want, I'll try to answer your question. First of all, if you want to play books from Audible as well as music, you can try the Muvo player, its a 128 GB player that is the size of a pack of gum and is less than $100. They have a 256 MB player, but I don't know how accessible it is. To check it out, read this month's edition of Access World. Now to the HD players, the best are either the IRiver H140, or the Archos studio players/recorders. The Archos ones can be found on EBay or Amazon. These players, including the IRivers are recognized as another drive by your computer so you just copy files to them. also, the Archos has an alternative firmwear program called Rockbox that you can download to the player/recorder. It will speak the menus and spell the directories and file names. Rockbox is being worked on to be able to be used by the IRiver players. I have the Archos studio 20GB recorder with Rockbox. I like it. The only draw backs are: 1. no radio. 2. Its heavy and big compared to other players. 3. Can only play MP3 files. 4. Only has a 10 hour battery life. Hope this helps. - Original Message - From: "Glenna Burgess" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: capturing streams question
May I suggest Mediarecorder which is a free stream ripper. Basically you put in the radio station you want to record and set the time for recording. Say you only want 1 hour of record time you can set that. You also can set the date and time feature so if your not at home it will record the stream assuming the power has not gone out. I like it quite well and use it now and again to capture streams. It will capture any shoutcast streams. It is not designed to capture windows media as far as I know. Wripping from Nero
Howdy folks, I must be doing something wrong when I want to wrip tracks from a CD using Nero. Basically, I follow the instructions but what it won't do is read the track or title. It just gives it a number. I'd like for it to rip it and read the title as it appears. Any ideas?
