nother sound card issue
Hi everyone. As this problem involves a sound card I'm guessing it's on topic. Here's the problem. When my card quit sounding I decided to upgrade to an Audigy 2ZS sound card. The convenience of the card's front pannel seemed like a real plus. All is well with the sound card except when used ing conjunction with WindowEyes. Jaws works just fine with it. However when WE is loaded I receive error messages followed by what my tech calls "the blue screen of death." Has anyone here heard of problems when using the Audigy 2ZS with Window Eyes? RE: DVDs with Video Description
Yes, there are versions of Ray that do not have video description, so be careful. The local stores around here did not carry the described version. I purchased from Amazon. You can check your local stores and see. The Ray dvd with DVS clearly mentions this on the outside of the cover. If it does not say that it has DVS for the visually impaired, don't buy it. You can find it for sure on Amazon. Passion of the Christ on the other hand was the opposite. I purchased it at a local store and I had no idea it had DVS until I saw it mentioned on one of the lists. As far as I know, there was nothing on the DVD box that mentioned DVS at all. a free windows scheduler program.
Hi all the subject says it all. I am having lots off trouble with windows 200 scheduler I'm trying to use it to open internet explorer and run some of my favourite radio programs which are stored in my favourites. I know it used to work but I don't remember doing anything to the dam program to break it!! Any way the scheduler does not seem to work at all no matter what I ask it to do now. so I wonder if their is a free scheduler program that works? thanks in advance I need it to record using total recorder standard. If I just leave my browser open and start say radio 4 if it is left for along time it seems to disconnect that is why I would rather use a scheduling program. Re: searching titles and artists of mp3s on your hard disk
with Mac, there is no need to manually enter files into the database. Mac can search any drive, including CD or DVD drives, folder, or directory, and catalog all the audio files in there. Cataloging is nearly effortless. Kelly - Original Message - From: "Kevin Lloyd" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. " Sent: Wednesday, March 09, 2005 1:11 PM Subject: Re: searching titles and artists of mp3s on your hard disk Hi Peter. I use a program called Audigen to catalogue all of my MP3 and WMA music. you simply copy and paste your music files into the database from anywhere on your computer, they could be held on different drives or even an external drive, and you are then able to browse by artist, album, genre or all tracks in a windows explorer interface in a single database. If you prefer you can use a web browser style interface that will present the same database in a web page with links for the categories. You can do simple and complex searches. For example, a simple search will fetch back perhaps all artists and albums and tracks with the word "Black" in them. A complex search could be something along the lines of selecting all tracks with the word black in the track name only where the year is 1979 and the bit rate is greater than or equal to 192kbps. Another feature of audigen is that you can create a web server so that you can play or download your music from any computer with an internet connection and all functions are available in the same way. You can control who signs onto your server by setting up user names and passwords. This software cost me $17 and it's the best software buy I've ever made. The program is produced by red chair software so anyone familiar with notmad explorer or annipod explorer will be completely familiar with the interface. For those of you in the UK, I've written an article on Audigen that will appear in this month's Access IT magazine but if anyone would like further information, please contact me off list. Re: iRiver H340 vs. H140
Is the player smaller then the Archos? The Archos recorder is big for an MP3 player. - Original Message - From: "Michael Lang" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Wednesday, March 09, 2005 11:04 PM Subject: iRiver H340 vs. H140 I'll describe the differences in this message. Anybody who wants to know, what the H140 is, can listen to my Main Menu review of the iRiver H100, which is the ten gigabyte version of the H140. I think that nearly everybody, who likes the 140 will be able to work with the 340, but there are some important differences. Because the 340 has a color display, it needs more power, therefore the display is turned off after a certain amount of time automatically. If one presses a button on the player while the display is off, nothing happens, at least if one can't see the display. It's just turned on in that case. To activate the desired function, one has to press the button again. This is a bit irritating, but I think I can live with that. One could set the display to always stay on, but I don't know, how much quicker the battery then would be flattened. I decided to leave the setting as it is, at least for the moment. When the player is used with the AC adapter and when it is off, pressing the play button once won't always turn it on. The display can proberbly be activated when the player is off and used with the AC adapter, so one has to press play twice to actually turn the iRiver on in that case. When one just activates the display, the player doesn't beep. Only when a function is executed, a beep can be heard. That's useful. The 340 has two usb ports on its bottom side. That's because it supports USB on the go, which PacMate users will already know. I've heard that the U. S. version of the 340 doesn't support this, but it will proberbly nevertheless have two USB ports. The right one should be used to connect the player to a PC. When one does that, the hard disk turns off and no PC connection is established. Reason: The player switches to USB charge mode. To establish the connection, one just presses the play button. The H340 then switches itself on again and is available as an external hard disk. I switched off USB charging on my player via the menu system, for which I needed sighted help. With the H140, one could switch to the tuner by pressing and holding the play button. On the H340, this has to be done via a second menu. One presses and holds record, then right, then navi to confirm. Bingo, the radio can be heard. To go back to the player mode, press and hold record, then left, then navi, the disk motor can be heard, and one is back in music mode. To record, one also uses the second menu. One just presses right twice, when one is in music player mode, when one then presses navi to confirm, one is in record standby mode. And if voice monitor is set to on (not the default), one can hear the internal mic of the player. To switch recording source, one presses the Repeat a-b button and can then switch between the sources with left and right, one immediately hears the new source. So if I've connected an external mic, I can hear it immediatley, after I selected ext mic as a source. <*** Michael Lang ***> ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
