Combining two Mono wav files together into a Stereo wav file in battach mode
Yes but CoolEdit cannot be automated to work on batch files can it? How many megs?
First, thanks for all your comments about rhapsody, which I'm still not sure I'll make friend with! Second, I have a question which may be inappropriate for this list, so please forgive me if it is. I want to burn a bunch of my mp3 music files onto a disk as data; I'm using Windows XP and Jaws 5 point something or other. How can I tell how many mb's I've copied onto the disk I'm going to burn? Besides adding up all the mb's on each folder I intend to copy, is there a way I can find out the total number of mb's so I don't get that annoying message that tells me I have to take some files off my disk before it can be burned? Hope this is appropriate and makes sense! Thanks much! Re: What sample rate should I use to record from a specific source?
Jay here, What really matters is: 1. what do your ears hear and 2. do yo0u intend to make a cd of the stuff you record. I'd try test-recording stuff that has large dynamic range so you can hear whether or not the soft sounds sound better at 32-bits. If you can hear that difference then you might as well use it if yopu have the disk space, but then you'll hafta convert it to 16-bit if you plan to make a cd of it.; At a sampling rate of 32khz you're still getting an upper frequency response of 16khz. There again, try recording music that has a lot of percussion with high-frequency transients such as xylophones and other struck things and see if you hear the difference. This sorta thing takes patience, but it's both worthwhile and instructive to determine what's overkill and what's not. \Then again, you might contact the purveyor and ask some questions as to the specs of the feed. - Original Message - From: "Aman Singer" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'PC audio discussion list. RE: What sample rate should I use to record from a specific source?
Hi, Jerry. Thanks for the explanation. However, I'm still confused, so please forgive what will undoubtedly seem like foolish questions. First, it seems sensible to say that one can't make audio better without trying. That is, I'm limited to the audio quality that my satellite company is sending me. How do I know if that quality is enough to justify, or will be captured by, a 44,100 sampling rate and 16 bit recording? That is, how do I know that if I tried to record at 48 KHZ or tried to increase the bit depth that the audio quality wouldn't improve? In the same way, how do I know that there will be a quality difference between recording at 32 KHZ and 44.1 KHZ given the quality of the sound I'm getting? Thanks for the answer about S-video. That port will remain unused. Aman -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jerry Richer Sent: Monday, July 18, 2005 5:55 AM To: PC audio discussion list. Subject: Re: What sample rate should I use to record from a specific source? Aman! Recording at 44100 sample rate, 16 bit depth, stereo will give you CD quality by definition. The more you increase either the sample rate or the bit depth or both the quality of the recording will go up. The higher the quality, the larger the recording. The increase in the size of the recording is directly proportional to any increase in these parameters. The sample rate relates to fidelity. If the sample rate is x then the highest frequency that will show up in the recording is x/2. Bit Depth is related to dynamics. The larger the bit rate the more dynamic the recording. Stick with the RCA outputs. There is no audio information in S-Video. Chirp|Chirp|Chirp: It's the Bat, Chirping Bat .Com ! New DEC-TALK USB: $650.00, www.chirpingbat.com/dectalkusb.shtml ! When it gets into the archives, listen to Main Menu for this past week. Jeff Bishop interviews Brian Hartgen on his JFW scripts for Itunes. It's my understanding that you need scripts to access it. If you have a podcatcher, you can subscribe to Jeff Bishop's Desert Skies podcast, which also has info about Itunes. HTH JulieMelton visit me at www.heart-and-music.com Keep smiling! Re: recommendations on portable ce player which has resume feature and plays mp3 files
Tim, iRiver has stopped producing MP3 CD players recently. IMHO, they made the best ones, because they can remember the stop position of the last ten CDs. You could try to get one at Ebay. The best MP3 Cd players, currently manufactured IMHO are the ones from Sony. I know the D-NE320 and I like it quite well. It can only remember the stop position of the CD currently in it. <*** Michael Lang ***> You wrote: > I'm looking for recommendations for a portable walkman style cd player whcih > has a resume feature and will play mp3 files, even the 24 bit 22 khz files > found on acb radio.
