RE: ROCKBOX
Hi. Yes, it does. Kiran was quite right when he said it will read the menus and if I am not mistaken, they are all recorded audio files and No TTS will be loaded on to the device. Rockbox does three things in speech. It reads menus, it spells or speaks file names, and it spells and speaks folder names. Therefore, it reads the contents of the screen in certain circumstances. However, it is not a screen reader in the conventional sense, and it uses recorded voice files, generally included in the firmware, to speak the display. Re: Soundcard suggestion
I'm not using a laptop. But on my desktop machine with Windows XP, I have an Audigy 2 and I really like it. For one thing it is a 24-bit card and the voice recordings I've done with it have no background noise to speak of. I have the Soundblaster Live Value card on an older machine withWin98 and when I voice record with it, there's a gravelly sound that I don't like at all. In all fairness, I really don't know whether that sound is coming from the card itself or something in the system. But in any case I think you'll like the Audigy 2. Re: ROCKBOX
I don't think it will do that. From what I read on the Rockbox site (some 8 or 9 months ago), it will read the menus and if I am not mistaken, they are all recorded audio files and No TTS will be loaded on to the device. Also there was a way of making a text file or playlist of the songs on the device and generating the audio files for these titles which could then be announced on the device. I may be completely wrong though. Regards, Kiran Kaja Code Factory S.L. how to get the library to search in winamp
Hi all, it never occurred to me, but if your winamp library will not search, try moving your mouse pointer to one of the catagories, and left clicking, and then, your search results will be available. I never thought of this, until somebody pointed this out on the winamp for the blind list, and subsiquent to version 5.11, I never had to do this, so it never occurred to me, so you will get at least 1000 stations in that search area, and you cannot increase that number as nullsoft a o l has put a cap on the server to limit the number of stations to search for, so I put mine at 1000 stations, and now, at least, my library works, but why I never thought to left click until somebody pointed it out, I'll never know. Hi Andre, > What oes it really speak? That's what I'm curious about. Does it act as a > kind of screen reader? No, it just uses a couple of recorded files to read menus and spell file and directory names. One can also create prompts, so that certain file and directory names aren't just spelled but read normally. Hello to the list. I don't know if it actually reads what's on the screen, but it does tell you, in an abbreviated sort of way, where you are in your folders and files tree, and the whole way the unit operates is different from the normal way. ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This list is a service of MosenExplosion.com. Well, still no happiness re docs, but I did find the boot loader and patch procedure which I heretofore did not have or even know existed. Found the instructions for upgrading / replacing the firmware, too, and they're pretty straightforward but do require sighted assistance. ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This list is a service of MosenExplosion.com. Fw: Daisybook problems.
HEllO! I have a really strange daisy-book reading problem. I am trying to read a daisy-book on my computer with easereader. It works just fine until i come to chapter 3, then the program locks up and i have to restart the whole computer. So i tired to read the same book in my victor reader wave. THere was no problems reading that chapter on my victor. So i then put it in to my computer and copied it to my hard drive and the same problems appears. THen i cahnged from easereader to a free daisyreader called tpb-reader whithn now luck. I can say that i can move to the next part of the book with booth easereader and tpb-reader. And then move back to chapter for with som fiddling. But chapter 3 wont read. Thow al .smil documents seems to be there and all mp3-files too. SO i am really confused. So if anyone here as any ideas i would be glad to hear from you. THanks in advance. /Anders. ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This list is a service of MosenExplosion.com.
