I had the spelling wrong, too. It's Plusdeck not t e k.
$139 is still about even for the Sony deck I think should be still available.

Hello, it's actually a lower price than $250. Go to
  www.ThinkGeek.com
and they sell it, along with a lot of other things you'll probably want to
buy. I downloaded the software, and I couldn't get it to work. I don't know

  Thanks a lot.

Just be careful not to use the refill with a pin method. The pin only
 shows

Hi, Trace. I recently also had to do that. I find the alltunes edit

more of a pain to fill out; alltunes wnats the name of your bank and the

It's pretty audacious, I can say that after first exposure.

Please respond either on the list or privately if you can help.

 Complaints:

 1. Help file is only quickie-ref. I did download the full docs, but
 they're little better.

 2. The docs talk about pressing varicolored buttons on the screen to
make things happen. Every button on the tool bar that I click with
the mouse causes the program to minimize. Nothing plays, I can't
 start a recording, nothing.

 3. Where have all the hot keys gone? I think I tried just about
every key combination and the program didn't do a thing, except for ^P
for preferences, and I think ^I might have been to import a file.

 4. Where are the transport controls? How does one place the audio
cursor at a particular point on the waveform (in the file, if you
like)? The menus have options for moving the cursor to the beginning
 or end, but naught else.

 5. Ditto selection markers. Where are they and how are they used?

Am I expecting too much of this software? Is this not what it's made
for? Should I just go back to Sound Forge and forgetaboutitall? I'm
trying to learn it not only for my own benefit, but others who want to
do audio editing and cannot afford or do not wish to afford Sound
Forge or Goldwave want to know whether the alternative does the job.
I'm so frustrated with it, I'm about ready to say a big fat no. And I
don't usually get this frazzled this quickly.

Now, where's that Zannex? Oh, right here, next to the Altase. Think
I'll have one of each! (Zannex is for anxiety, Altase is for high
blood pressure, both of which this program has certainly given me if I
 didn't have them before! HAHHAH!)

skype 2.5

2006-09-30 Thread Roger R. Cusson
be aware that in this, the very latest version of skype version 2.5.0.146,
during the initial install, you will of course have the language selection
box, the check box for the license accept / decline box and a new friend,
the google tool bar. i happen to not be at all faund of the google tool bar
so, please be aware that there is yet a third check box that your assistive
software should inform you about, it is the google tool bar, and it has up
until this skype version never existed in the installer rooteen up until
this point.

be aware of it, and if you want it, you can leave the box in its default
state which in my case was actually checked or smash your space bar on it,
and uncheck it, and proceed to the finish button to fully set up this new
update of skype 2.5.0.146.

Bruce, are the gaps actually a part of the tracks themselves or is it just
that the CD was created with the default 2 second gaps between tracks. If
the gaps are not a part of each individual track, then I would rip each
track to individual .wav files and then set the gap that the burner places
between each song at 0 seconds when reburning. I've done this when
transferring live vinyl and it works seamlessly. You can do this with Easy

noticeable. Is there a way to doctor the content onto another CD and
remove the gaps without having to physically edit each track?

Volume Hot Key

2006-09-30 Thread Kat
Hello. I'm hoping you can help me assign a hot key to my volume controls.

I have a Windows XP Media Center operating system, and use JFW 7.0 (pro
edition). I recently did a disk clean up and defrag, and find that the hot
key I had assigned for the volume controls is gone. I went to reassign the
hot key, but can't find volume in my list of programs. It used to be under
accessories and under entertainment. I can access volume via the control
panel, but do not know how to assign a hot key when in the control panel. I
find it interesting that my other hot keys appear to be fine. Can you help?

Re: Good mikes for my Edirol r09

2006-09-30 Thread Bob Nelson
Kathy,

If you do go down this path, make sure that you select the high sensitivity
option and when you connect it to the R09, make sure that the plug in power
option is on.

You can use it without a pre-amp as long as you are prepared to load your
file into a sound editor and normalise it.

However, a pre-amp will deliver good results. Be sure that you get one that
has adjustable levels and turn off the plug in power option on the R09.

 Subject: Removing Gaps Between Tracks

Some time ago, I got a copy of a CD. The person who did the copying
 was,
apparently, not familiar with the concept of disk-at-once, and there
 are
gaps between the tracks. Since this is a concert CD, the gaps are most
noticeable. Is there a way to doctor the content onto another CD and
remove the gaps without having to physically edit each track?

Some Goldwave Questions

2006-09-30 Thread G. McFarlane
I have some queries about Goldwave which I Hope someone can answer.
1. Are there scripts for Jaws or are these unnecessary?
2. I've heard that it can deal with mp4s and Audible files - is this true or
untrue? (the demo version doesn't)
3. I like the look of its sister program Multi quence - is this accessible?
Thanks for any responses.

I can answer your first question. Yes, there are jaws scripts for goldwave,
which can be obtained at http://jfwlite.com. And I think it can do mp4, but
I don't remember for sure. It's been a long time since I've used goldwave.

Re: transfering cassette tapes

2006-09-30 Thread David Tanner
I haven't looked at decks for about a year, but at that time I could have
purchased a relatively nice Sony duel deck with high speed dubbing and Dolby,
etc. for $149 at Best Buy and a local audio store that caters to more general
public than high end audio.

a friend of mine wishes to transfer 900 cassette tapes from his current

His analog tape machine just broke, imagine that...

not wish to purchase another analog tape machine but does want the

Re: Some Goldwave Questions

2006-09-30 Thread Jani Kinnunen
 1. Are there scripts for Jaws or are these unnecessary?

There are scripts, but GoldWave can also be used without them. You can find
the scripts here: http://jbauer.port5.com

 2. I've heard that it can deal with mp4s and Audible files - is this true
or untrue? (the demo version doesn't)

I'm not sure as I've never had such files, but I doubt that.

 3. I like the look of its sister program Multi quence - is this
 accessible?

No, it isn't. I've tested it.
