Edirol R-09: New firmware 1.1 available

2006-11-17 Thread Michael Lang
Today, Edirol will release version 1.1 of the R-09 firmware. I haven't
updated yet, but according to the readme file, this shouldn't be a
problem for blind people, because one doesn't have to use a menu to do
it.

The most important new feature is SDHC compatibility. The Edirol R-09
now works with the new SDHC cards. SDHC is the name of the new SD card
specification 2.0, which standardizes the new SD card capacities from 4
to 32 gigabytes. There are none SDHC cards of 4 gigs available, but it's
proberbly much safer to use an SDHC card, and I've already seen eight
gigabytes SDHC cards. Somebody already has uploaded the firmware to a
yousendit address and at taperssection.com, a couple of people have used
this firmware to successfully update their Edirol recorder:

Re: Media Player 11?

2006-11-17 Thread Robert Hebert
About the only thing I haven't been able to accomplish so far is synchronizing
music files to the Iriver T30.
I am using windows explorer for this task at present but it was not working all
the time[--especially when deleting files.
However, I have successfully reformatted my Iriver T 30 and have downloaded
successfully but haven't deleted this selection so far but will likely load
some new music for the weekend.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Well, you do have what is called Full mode. asicly, to the best that I
recall, go to the view menu with alt v, then go down and make sure that full
mode is checked. You *do not* want it on skin mode.

my machine or ISP. Other pages are opening fine. Is anyone else
experiencing this problem or should I be looking for other causes? please
advise if you are getting the firmware download successfully or not.

Subject: Edirol R-09: New firmware 1.1 available

Re: sound forge questions

2006-11-17 Thread Doc
I'm about ready to chuck soundforge8. I've tried everything everyone has
suggested to get a recording started and it hasn't worked. I've only been
able to record in sound forge 5 but gave it up because it doesn't have a
fast forward and rewind feature. Nor could I find out how to restrict the
recording to a particular length and have it only record when there is a
sound source.

 Hi Trace,

This may be the problem you're having it's driving me crazy too. Do
 you
 get
 the following error message?

Bit torrent error dialog aborting the torrent because it couldn't
 connect
to the tracker while not connected to any peers.

It also may be a situation where you may have to open a port so
 that
 the
torrents can download properly. If anybody knows anything about
 port
mapping and how to open ports I'd sure like to learn how to do it.

2006-11-17 Thread blsmass
So I have this link, from a list, which is:
http://podasp.com:8000/p/pd/pdxlug/1149.mp3
and I cannot use insert f7, shift f10, a to download the program. I can
get it to play, but I don't want to have to rerecord it. What do I do?
Thanks. Kurt

Re: Edirol R-09: New firmware 1.1 available

2006-11-17 Thread Sarah
Just to let you know I downloaded the update and it did not save my
settings but I needed to redo those but I had to know that I would not hear
the pop in my headphones. I had to trust that it was on and about ready to
update.

Hi folks,

I am experiencing a gateway time out with you send it. I'm not sure if it's
my machine or ISP. Other pages are opening fine. Is anyone else
experiencing this problem or should I be looking for other causes? please
advise if you are getting the firmware download successfully or not.

Thanks...Keith

Subject: Edirol R-09: New firmware 1.1 available

Edirol R-09 Clarification Please

2006-11-17 Thread VICTORIA VAUGHAN
I'm trying to understand this unit as it compares to the Plextalk.
Is the edirol R-09 a stand alone digital recorder?
Is the recording it makes going to its own internal harddrive or CD or
Flashcard?
Can this unit help with converting cassettes and LP records to digital
format on your computer?

Thanks for any help in understanding this!

Does anyone on the list know anything about the Marantz Model PMD660 digital

In particular how user friendly is it, and the price of the unit?

RE: Edirol R-09 Clarification Please

2006-11-17 Thread Judy W

it doesn't have a hard drive. It uses an sd card. There are easier ways of
getting tapes and albums to your computer. I wouldn't use the edirol for
that purpose.

If you want to put info on to cd, the plextalk is a good machine, but twice
the price of the edirol.

If you aren't going to do field recordings, you could use goldwave,
soundForge, or studio recorder for converting tapes and albums. these are
all software products and have a learning curve. There are tutorials, but
you will need to read the manuals to learn to use them. The plexTalk cd
recorder is voice guided and easy. The edirol menus are accessible, but you
will need to memorize them and I would suggest you listen to some podcasts
about these devices.

Hope this helps

Judy
