Skype Question
Hi! I am hoping to launch an on-line radio program soon, and I was wondering if any of you happen to use Skype for recording phone interviews. I have an older version of Skype, but I really haven't played with it very much. I've heard that the audio quality of recordings with Skype isn't great, but I thought things might have changed with newer versions. Thanks! Re: Skype Question
The audio recordings with skype is quite good so long as you have a good solid connection. What version of skype are you using? For recording, you have a few options. Total recorder is one. If you have outlook (not outlook express), you can get skylook, which will let you record skype calls in outlook. Re: REal Audio Files
Terry Lynn While there are alternatives available for playing these files, as already has been outlined, here is something that you might wish to consider as an instructor. Sure, they do exist; but also Real Player is the Real McCoy, so to speak, and was designed from the ground up to work with everything RP is supposed to work with. Hence, a student, while certainly able to use these substitutes (generic alternatives), he/she also should be prepared that there is the possibility that some things may not work as expected; and these things might not be obvious ones at this point. The current version of RP works well with current versions of WE and JFW; and, as an instructor, you may be causing untold frustration to yourself and creating problems to solve later if the generic choice is made. Hence, if I were in your shoes, I'd strongly urge your student to stick with the namebrand rather than the generic. Converting a bunch of Real files to mp3
Hi, all. I think I know the unfortunate answer to this, but I thought I'd ask anyhow. I have a bunch of Real files I want to convert to mp3 format. The only way I've found to do this is to burn CD's in Realplayer as audio CDs, then open them up in Soundforge *'m using 6.0), and then save them as mp3's. This is indeed a slow process, but it does work. Anyone know of a faster way to do this? Music Players, Vista (all flavors), and JAWS 8 (both versions) working together or not
Hello List! I recently purchased a new PC that came with Vista (home) installed already. I also own several players (Winamp Pro; Nero 7; EMC7/8/9; Recordnow Max; Real Player; and Power DVD (the latest). I recently purchased JAWS 8. Recently, when I installed Nero on my daughter's new notebook computer, the system went crazy and we had to take it back to Best buy to check on or replace it. The technician said the problem was the wrong version of Nero on the system. He said Nero and other similar programs must do patches to make their products compatible with Vista. Do Winamp and the other players have the same problem and must be upgraded to Vista versions? Also, does JAWS 8 (Vista) really work well with all flavors of Vista and what about all of those burners and stuff we have? Hope this question is on topic and you can answer it for me. Hi, There are on-line converters that will convert file formats and send it back to you via email within 24 hours. I think one is called Zanzar.com. If not, do a search for online file converters. Re: Converting a bunch of Real files to mp3
Kathy, So far as I understand, .rax files don't even contain any audio information that could be converted to another format. They just contain pointers to an online source of audio data, one that your player is authorized to access. Therefore, as far as I know, the only way to get a .rax file into another format is the way I taught you, the way you suggested in starting this thread: Burn it to CD (which you are authorized to do), then rip it off in whatever format you wish. If I knew of a simper way, I'd be using it, myself. - Original Message - From: Kathy Szinnyey [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Thursday, March 29, 2007 4:08 PM Subject: Re: Converting a bunch of Real files to mp3 Boy, I'm glad I asked!
