Re: Creative Zen Stone Player
I'm curious. How do you think this makes it more inconvenient? Are you thinking it's more inconvenient than something which has a rechargeable battery in it but uses an AC adapter to charge it? If so, I'm thinking whether you plug it into a USB port or an AC outlet, it would all be the same. I guess though AC outlets are still more ubiquitous than USB ports. If I go on vacation, like a cruise, I'd still have to bring my laptop just to recharge my Creative Zen Stone. If you're comparing it to something which takes batteries then I guess it would be more inconvenient, when the battery runs down, you have to tether yourself to an electrical outlet or a USB port while it's charging, but if it took batteries, you could just pop a fresh battery in and go. I guess for the price, you could always buy two! OK never mind, you're right, I can see where it would be a bit nor inconvenient! I'm still asking for one for Father's Day though! I have the Creative MuVo with 128M of memory, and having something that's supposed to be just as easy to use, but with 1GB of memory is just too appealing. Plus I see it's size and the fact that it has rechargeable batteries as providing it's own conveniences. I don't have to worry about spare batteries or carrying two separate cords. Re: Creative Zen Stone Player
If the Zen Stone can only be recharged via the USB port.. .this shouldn't pose too much of a problem as you can get A C adapters that allow you plug a USB connection in, so you can charge it that way. Just like the way I pods are charged. John [EMAIL PROTECTED] 07/06/07 03:29 Bruce, you wrote: Am I to understand that the Zen Stone can only be recharged by way of the USB port? Are the T50 and T60 from iRiver accessible? [was Re: Creative Zen Stone Player]
Has a blind person used or had any experience with the iRiver T50 or the iRiver T60? If so, how accessible did you find them? From the review posted at http://www.pocketables.net/2007/05/review_iriver_t.html, I read the following, which makes me wonder how accessible these players are. The reference to a joy stick and a GUI, even though they say it's straightforward, give me pause. It does appear that you can just use Windows Explorer to transfer music, but you may have to use the PC software to switch between MTP and UMS mode. That doesn't seem like a big deal, but I wonder if the PC software is accessible with a screen reader or not. Controls Navigation on both players is primarily handled by a small joystick on the right side of the display The joystick is unrestricted in its movement and easy to use, but it's a bit wobbly. This makes selecting various options tricky because pressing the center of the joystick straight down requires actual precision. You can't just push the center and expect the system to recognize it as an OK or Enter command. More often than not, tapping the center of the joystick pushes it slightly to the left, which rewinds a track or takes you to the previous menu option. Navigation would be more accurate if the joystick's movements were limited to just four directions (up, down, left, right). Graphical user interface The T50 and T60 are equipped with yet another GUI not found on any other recent iriver DAP (it's the same one used on the older T10). All that nonsense aside, the T50 and T60's GUI is self-explanatory and easy to use. The main menu is colorful and cute, but the rest of the system isn't really anything to look at. It's all very file-tree and Windows Explorer: plain but functional. Transferring content The T50 and T60 can be formatted to support MTP or UMS/MSC for transferring media with or without the use of software. Drag-and-drop via Windows Explorer can be done in either mode, but other differences exist to make choosing between one or the other pretty crucial. Switching between the two modes requires the use of the supplied Cross Updater software and also deletes all of the content, so it's easier to just choose one and stick to it forever. Keep in mind that you need MSC/UMS to: • Use iriver plus 3 • Supposedly playback podcasts (not sure why iriver says this, as most podcasts are in MP3 format) And you need MTP to: • Use Windows Media Player 11 and other music management software • Playback Audible content Michael Lang wrote: Bruce, you wrote: Am I to understand that the Zen Stone can only be recharged by way of the USB port? Before I got in to computers, I was and still am heavyly in to audio. This is the one thing that both audio cd players and cd drives for computers and even dvd players have in comend with each other. Over a periet of time, real fine dust particals will deposit themselves on the lazer lense. When that happens, that's when these machines have a problem playing back any cd or dvd you put in them. Their are lazer linse cleaning kits that you can use to get the dust deposit off of the linse. After cleaning the linse, these dvd players cd players and even computer cd/dvd drives are like new again. Try cleaning the lazer linse with one of these linse cleaning kits and see if that solves the problem. If it dosen't, then that's the time to replace the cd/dvd drive. Re[2]: Creative Zen Stone Player
hello all, there is more than one solution to the problem of charging your mp3 usb players. i bought a mp3 and usb charger a while ago. this is a small device that looks just like a standard mains plug and has a usb socket on the face, all you do is plug it into the wall socket and plug any usb powered device into it to either run it off the mains or to charge it. i only paid 5.99 UK pounds for it about12 US dollars. the place i got mine from doesn't have this particular model any more but they do have an alternative one that has some extras. mine was for UK use only, but the one they have now is a travel version which comes with adapters allowing you to use it in the UK, USA, Europe or Australia. this model costs 9.99 UK pounds about 21 US dollars here is the url for the item: http://www.gizoo.co.uk/Products/AvCommunications/iPodAccessories/TravelCharg erUSB.htm pete. CD Architect Question
Since I've started editing certain Vinyl and cassette to CD transfer projects in Sound Forge 8, I've learned that Nero 6.6 will not burn projects touched by SF. It consistently reports that I have a CDR in my drive, and that I need a CDR-RW instead. This is not true, as I have Nero set to Audio CD. Furthermore, Nero does not display the same anomaly when I burn a disk that was edited with DC6, Goldwave, or WavePad. So far, CD Architect seems to be the only burning program that will touch a Sound Forge edited project. My problem is that some of my customers want no gaps between tracks. In Nero, removing the 2 second gap between tracks is a simple matter. How can I accomplish the same thing when using CD Architect? As always, thanks for any suggestions you might be able to offer. No justification is necessary on that point. The BP is one of the best purchases I've ever made, and I am now just glad I didn't purchase the Zen stone ... not because there's anything wrong with it, but because I'm better served by my Book Port and I'll take the larger size for what I'm offered. A question about cd burners
Hello again, I had previously posted about a reading problem with my cd burner, and plan to purchase a disc cleaner later today. Wish me good luck g. But that begs a question. I am wondering how Nero goes about verifying the files if the disc can't be read? I guess I'm revealing my obvious lack of the mechanics of burner tech here, but I'm wondering if burners such as mine (the Lit-on LTR-352327S) are equipped with one or two lens. Does it read and write with the same one, or separate lens. If not, why could the same lens write, but not read? Since this burner came with my computer, I think it only cost about $50 or something in that range, and that might give some sort of clew as to its features, or lack there of. creative zen stone won't play.
Hi all! I received my creative Zen stone today, plugged it in, deleted the sample tracks from the music folder, and pasted in some mp3 files of an audio book. I waited until the player was charged, plugged in the headphones, and held down the play button for one second. I heard a little popping sound which told me that the player had powered up, but no other sound. I tried pushing all sides of the wheel, thinking that the volume might just be too low. I assume that the portion of the wheel with the little dot on it is volume up. What could I be doing wrong? Should I have put the files in the route of the player instead of in the music folder? Re: CD Architect Question
Hi there. Yes in Nero there's no problen removing the 2 second gap. just do the following. 1. Place focus on a track which you want preceeded by something other than the default 2 second pause. 2. press alt+enter. At this point your screen reader should indicate that you are now in an edit field. 3. Tab twice. When you do that, your screen reader should say something like pause 2, indicating that Nero is set to pause for 2 seconds before the highlighted track begins. 4. Write in the number of seconds that you would like Nero to pause before beginning the track in question. Note that if you want no pause, you should enter in 0. 5. Press enter to save your choice and repeat the process with any other tracks where you would like the preceeding pause to be different than the default 2 seconds. Hope this helps. Allison, This is just a shot in the dark, but after reading a review of the Zen Stone, I recall there is a switch that you have to use to put the player in folder navigation mode. I am thinking that you may have to use this mode to navigate to your music folder and then press what ever button makes a selection to go into the folder. Re: creative Zen stone won't play.
Hi Gary. The zen stoen is so simple that a manual really isn't necessary. As Alison has discovered, you do have to hold the play button for 2 to 3 seconds and then wait 10 to 15 seconds for playback to start. I'd recommend taking a look at the following site to get a good overview of the player: http://www.hartgen.org/zenstone.html Regards. problem with sound taxi.
Hi all! I managed to get sound taxi installed on my system and registered without any major mishaps. However, when I played back a song which I had converted, I noticed that it skipped. It's a song from rhapsody, and I was converting from the original wma format to a 192K (they called it 190 K) mp3 file. Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening? I bought this program, and I really like it for the most part, but I need it to function reliably. Thanks! Re: Creative Zen Stone Player
Hi Bruce. I see the BP and Zen Stone as serving completely different purposes rather than two products competing in the same market so it's more likely that you'd want both rather than one or the other. I don't have a BP and haven't seenit's specs but I'd be very surprised if it had a great spec for playing music when you consider it's main purpose in life is to play the spoken word. The zen stone on the other hand is primarily a music player designed and built to provide the best playback quality possible in the tiniest size to compete with apple's products. It has a frequency range of 20 hz to 20 Khz whereas typically, players like the olympus ds50, milestone and I'd imagine the BP will only cover 50 hz to 19 Khz. The zen stone battery life is approx 10 hours on a full charge and it would of course be ridiculous to assume you'd need to take a laptop with you to recharge. These types of players always come with an adaptor to charge from mains and these can be hhad very cheaply. Regards.
