Audio streams, some good and others not so good
Ok, I've known about this one for a while at http://3mp.com.au This is a great example of a Windows Media audio stream here. Now go to http://www.2gb.com.au and go to the "listen live" section, select "listen with Windows Media" and see how you find the stream, last time I checked it was damn rubbish compared to the "real audio" stream from the same radio source. , has anyone managed to get any of the video streams at http:// www.mytalk.com.au working? I should warn you here that there are a collection of different streams for different radio stations across this network, some just broadcast audio whilst others are video, the audio streams seem to work ok, quality not brilliant last time I checked but not too bad, can't get the video streams to work at all though, just wondering perhaps whehter band width limitations may be the cause of this, if so then its not too good as I'm running 512KBPS here. Finally, I have a site where people can listen to streams in the latest AAC+ standard, I'll dig it out. If you want to hear what the current DAB standard sounds like then these streams will give you some idea as AAC+ is the new encoding format for DAB. *** Dane Trethowan From Melton Victoria Australia Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] phone uk 0121 288 4976 Phone/tty (+61 3) 9747 975 Fax +61 3 9743 7954 mobile/sms: +61425 777 508 Skype: callto:grtdane12 msn: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ** Join the fight against spam! Hello Amanda, I've used DB Poweramp with Jaws. But however, their are some parts of it that aren't user frendly with Jaws. Here is one exampel that I can give you. You are suppose to be able to make a recording from an annolog device such as a tape player and or a turn table. But people with screen readers such as Jaws and Window Eyes can't do that because that part of DB Poweramp isn't text baced. Re: CDEX question
Hi Judy, It really depends on your needs, whether an upgrade is useful. I have been useing 1.51 for quite some time, and it does what I need, so I really have no need to upgrade. I have many programs installed, because I find what a multi-use program seems to do the best for me, and then that is the only thing I use the program for. CDEX has never given me cause to look for another ripper, so that is what I dedicate it to. Re: Wireless headphones with microphone
Hello Brent: I can't say first hand what the mic sounds like but for $119 and $149 I imagine it sounds great. It doesn't take much to build a great sounding microphone. Re: Wireless headphones with microphone
Hello Jim: Following please find your questions and my answers. Q: What are the phones like in the $149.00 model? Are they closed or open ear? A: It's a closed ear design for high quality listening. Q: Can the $119.00 support an external mick as well as headphones? A: No, just headphones. Q: Assuming one already has high quality headphones, would better results be gained by utalizing functionality of the $119 version? A: Yes. It was designed as such for that reason. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Thanks. Jerry Chirp|Chirp|Chirp: It's the Bat, Chirping Bat .Com ! RE: Iriver H340
Hi: Sorry about that. I had too many zeros in the file name. Try this: ftp.compuconference.com/h300_USA_Eng.pdf If that doesn't work, just go to ftp.compuconference.com and browse through the files until you come to the one you want. Replay AV 8
Hi again, I've just downloaded the demo version of replay Av 8, and am trying to record something from my soundcard. It records beautifully, but I keep getting sounds from the in-built microphone in my ASUS laptop. I've tried all the settings I can find in the volume control dialog, but can't seem to turn it off. I'm using windows XP MCE. Regards Amanda Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Max Ripper? An absolute ripper.
Ok, for those who like to rip music from their CD collections or who are into converting audio file formats to say 40 different formats and more besides then you may wish to look at Max Ripper, versions are available for Mac OS10 and LINUX. I've been using the Mac version for a couple of weeks now and I'm very impressed, Max Ripper is on a Par with EAC, for the PC, the most accurate and reliable audio CD ripper I'm yet to see, well apart from Max. Just to see how good Max Ripper was, I ripped a CD using EAC on the PC and Max Ripper on the Mac and compared the resulting files from both rips using EAC's "Compare File" tool, no difference between both files so let that speak for itself. Max Ripper like EAC will generate ccue sheets but unlike EAC, you will be able to use the CUE sheets to convert files. For example, let's say you have a cue and FLAC pair, you can use the cue sheet to affectively create the original CD into MP3 tracks from the FLAC file, this feature isn't fully implemented as yet but it will be in the next release of Max Ripper I'm told. Max Ripper is "open source" and is free. Max has various ripping settings including "full paranoia" to insure that you get extremely good quality results whether you have CD's in pristine condition or whether they're damaged. http://sbooth.org/Max/ *** Dane Trethowan From Melton Victoria Australia Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] phone uk 0121 288 4976 Phone/tty (+61 3) 9747 975 Fax +61 3 9743 7954 mobile/sms: +61425 777 508 Skype: callto:grtdane12 msn: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ** Join the fight against spam!
