RE: windows media
Hi, Yes, it's fully accessible as someone noted - even versions 10 and 11... I'm using version 11 and JFW 6.2 with no problems. also, as a side note, if you're primarily interseted in quality and will only playback using the comp, try ripping in WMA format. It sounds beter than MP3, at least to me it does... Windows media player has error correction so be sure to set it if you're using this program to rip audio CD's. It will rip much more slowly when this is enabled but you will get excellent results. To set the error correction flag, go to tools, options and locate the audio tab. Press enter on the properties button for your CD/DVD drives and then check the checkboxes to set error correction on. The CD transport in your computer is key to getting good results. As mentioned, EAC will scan until it finds 2 close matches in extracted WAV forms but that doesn't mean that it's perfect as if your CD transport isn't great then you'll get some very close imperfect WAV files and it'll have just taken you longer to get there. I've found laptops have the best CD transports as they tend to have a raised middle onto which you can press the CD and have it held firmly. CD transports I've seen on desktops have been quite flimsy at times and the disc can slide about when spinning. This is a great way to generate lots of jitter, particularly on the latter tracks which are on the outside of the disc and so are therefore being rocked around a lot more than the inner tracks on a flimsy transport. Re: Sound Forge -- Finding Gaps in Audio
Hello, I am a SF user and have been for a while. I do use SF 5 because I have Window-eyes and am scared to move on. Anyway please remember there is a reason SF is an expensive program. It is because it is a powerful program. You can do, as far as I have seen, just about anything with the right time and patience. Sorry, lost track. SF has regions and markers just like other editors. All you have to do is tell SF what to look for and it will split your file in to regions, then you can look through them and if you like them; have them extracted to files. There is even some presets on what to look for. I had a minidisc of my work that I needed dumped to a file. I made one big file and had SF look for the silence to split it into tracks. It worked beautifully. Markers are somewhat different then regions markers are more for smaller fine-tuned editing I believe but that is a whole different topic. I hope this helps and if you need anything else let me know. P.S. Instead of files you can also delete the regions that contain the silence if you still wanted a continuous file. bb Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Listening To WUFT.org/fm in Wenamp
High List members, This morning, I was listening to: http://www.wuft.org/fm which is my loco NPR radio station in Wenamp. I heard the audio signal get louder and softer. I thought that this was the fault of my home made speaker system for my computer. So I disconnected my speaker system and hooked my computer up to my Peavey CD-DJ-MIX-9 d.j mixer. In Wenamp and on my mixer, I am using all of the default settings. The only control that I change when needed, is the mane volume on the mixer. Even then, the audio signal got louder and softer. Is this suppose to be happening? Thinks in advance. John Price. Steady, Is there a way within sound forge to adjust the silence being seeked out to range anywhere from let's say 3 seconds of silence to 5 minutes of silence? Is there a "go to next gap" feature one can hit with a hotkey? Thank you very much for this great information--really appreciate it! Re: Sound Forge -- Finding Gaps in Audio
Hi, try this, load the file in sound forge, alt T for tools, F for find and select the find next word preset. if there's any gap in the file, sf will place your cursor at the end of the gap. hit ctrl shift K at that point to listen to the last few seconds of the file to determine whether is it a gap or is ment to be silent. hth. 锦发/Steady Goh http://www.tcr-music.com.sg/singers/jinfa/intro_jinfa.html - Original Message - From: "Curtis Delzer" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Wednesday, September 05, 2007 11:28 PM Subject: Re: Sound Forge -- Finding Gaps in Audio > Sure, that makes audio phrases without gaps which I truly hate to hear > people use, because it takes the humanity out of the presentation, but I > don't think that is what he had in mind, a facility which would look for > more than 10 seconds or so of a gap and then either put a mark there, > (which > GW will do) or automatically illiminate that gap.
