thanks for the correction on that, I don't use Rhapsody. Comcast used to
provide Rhapsody radio, but I don't know if they do any more.

>From the review at
http://mp3.about.com/od/digitalmusicdelivery/fr/Rhapsodyreview.htm, it says:

File Formats:
Rhapsody has its own DRM system just like the iTunes Store does to
protect its music files. The DRM system that is used is known as Helix.
The file format that is used with this encryption technology is RAX (AAC
encapsulated in Helix). You can alternatively download WMA files if you
prefer; these are protected with Microsoft’s WMDRM system.

I don't use Rhapsody myself, but the implication that you could only get
Real audio files from Rhapsody didn't sound right to me, so a quick trip
to Google gave me the above information.

Hi guys! Unfortunately every one missed the point of my question. I don't
need a voice over plugin btw I already bought that one) I'm looking for
audio effects. I know gw has several effect options but I find them kind
of limited being a former sound forge and cool edit user. The presets gw
has aren't that great in my opinion and I was wondering if any one out
here had any suggestions as to some third party plugins that have fun or
good effects that are easy to use or come with a lot of presets. I know
they exist I just thought since there are so many gw users I could get
some cool ideas.

thanks for your help

Vista ready CD burners other than Nero?

2009-04-01 Thread Larry
Hi there. I was, and I guess still am to a degree, considering purchasing
Nero 9. But after reading all of its features, most of which I will not use,
it's beginning to seem a bit like buying a GPS system to help me navigate
from my desk to the front door.

What I need is a good and reliable Cd burner that works well with screen
readers, lives comfortably on a Vista machine and maybe costs a bit less
than Nero's $79 price tag. I don't plan to burn DVDs be they Blue Ray or
standard. But I would like something that offers more than just basic CD
burning with no extras. Any suggestions on something that might be worth
considering?

Thanks for any thoughts you might have on the subject.

Larry

Vlc player help wanted.

2009-04-01 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hello!
Hi!
Ok i am into vlc now and am trying to do a stream save which seems to work
but not work.
I am recording a show which lasts for a couple of hours.
When the show has reached for 57 minutes it changes to another stream where
the show continues.
I should point out that i am listening to this show some days after so i
have just a playlist here.
But vlc wont automaticly change to the other stream i have to do this
manually.
Is there a possible setting to make vlc follow the stream automatically?
I hope you understand my rubbish english.
/Anders.

Re: Nero with Vista

2009-04-01 Thread Bozenka Gogoláková

Helo,
I active use Nero7. It works properly on Win Vista. All ittems are active
through the keyboard. This version is very similar like Nero6. But I could
not use Nero6, because of the errors. I strongly recommend Nero7 and High. I
am satisfied with Nero7. Try it.

Subject: Nero with Vista

Hi there. I have a Vista system and I would like to install a version of
Nero that works on Vista and will Also work with Window-eyes and or System
Access. I would appreciate any suggestions concerning what I ought to buy.

If you think another CD burner might work better for me, I am open to
suggestions, but I do have specific needs. In my work, I need the option to
determine the length of silence between tracks. For instance, some of the
CDs that I burn for clients require track separation but 0 or 1 second gaps
between tracks. So, as well as being screen reader friendly and Vista
compliant I need to be able to dictate gap lengths between tracks.

If you feel that this discussion would not be of interest to the group in
general, please feel free to email me privately.

I would really appreciate any help you can offer, as this is one area where
Vista and I are having great difficulties in getting comfortable with each
other. And it is a decision that involves my work.

again, thanks very much in advance.

Larry

Fwd: Victor Stream 3.0 Software Now Available

2009-04-01 Thread Steve Pattison
 From:Adam Morris li...@damorris.com

Dear Victor Reader Friends:

HumanWare is please to announce the release of the new Stream 3.0 software.
Stream 3.0 is a major release with exciting new features and numerous
usability improvements. Version 3 responds to popular requests received from
many Stream customers. New features include:

- Optional multi-level bookshelf navigation for Other Books, Podcasts, and
Text. Now you can optionally organize these bookshelves into multiple levels
of folders and navigate at those levels.
- Optional multi-level folder navigation within Music files. For example,
now you could choose to organize your music by levels such as genre, artist,
and album and navigate at those levels to more quickly find your desired
music.
- Further you can now instantly create temporary playlists of a subset of
your music collection and limit Random play to only that portion of your
music.
- Text Search. Now you can enter words to search for in your text files or
text portion of DAISY books.
- A new Bookmark alert feature can be enabled to notify you when you pass
over a previously bookmarked position during playback. It will even
automatically announce your audio bookmarks.
- Two text-to-speech voices. The English versions will now include both a
male and female text-to-speech voice.
- Optional voice label for your SD cards

Usability Improvements:
- A 30 minute Time Jump choice has been added
- Single hotkey (#9) to toggle music random play on or off
- Book title is included in the delete confirmation prompt. Also, after
deletion, the next book on the bookshelf is announced.
- Press key 4 in music to repeat the current song
- Go To Percent added to Other Books and Podcasts
- Automatic removal of the UPG file after the software upgrade

and more. Please see the Release Notes for full details on the new features
and instructions on how to use them.
Both the software and Release Notes can be downloaded from the Stream
support page at:
http://www.humanware.com/stream_support

Select the Software link on that page. You will find the Release Notes at
the top and the English 3.0 software download links. You can choose from two
English versions one with Samantha + Tom text-to-speech voices and another
with Samantha + Daniel (UK) voices. You can upgrade to version 3 from any
prior Stream version. To install the new software, follow these steps:

- Download the software zip file
- Unzip the single UPG upgrade file from the zip file. You do not need
special unzip software. Simply press Enter to open the zip file and you can
then select the UPG file.
- Copy this UPG file to the root of your Stream SD card.
- Disconnect the Stream from the computer, connect it to AC power and turn
it on.
- The Stream will automatically start the update process which takes about 2
minutes during which time it will announce intermittent "please Wait"
messages. The Stream will power off when the new software is installed.

After the new software is installed, an html Release Notes document will
also be available in a HumanWare sub-folder of your Text Bookshelf so you
may read the Release Notes with your Stream. The html version allows you to
navigate the Release Notes section by section using the 2/8 keys to select
the level and keys 4 and 6 to move between sections.

With this announcement, version 3 is available in English only. As other
version 3 languages become available they will be posted on the same
download page. We also are releasing a new version of Stream Companion which
will be described in a second email.

HumanWare values your continued support of the Victor Reader Stream. We
remain committed to our customers to make the Stream the most powerful,
flexible, and enjoyable product used for listening to digital talking books,
computer files, and music.

Thank you,

The HumanWare Team
