I use Switch from http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html to do exactly
this. I've been using the free version for quite a long time, but I think
you now get a free trial of Switch Plus which you can downgrade to the free
version after the trial period. Note that AVI to MP3 conversion is in the
free version of Switch.

I've tried the oxelon media converter but the file won't convert.

   hi listers
here is my situation.
right now when I record my sessions I usually record them on to a cd, and
if I need to make a copy and I want to turn it in to an mp3 I have to use
cdex to shrink it down. that's not really the problem.
I am looking for a machine that would let me record straight from the
source. I want it to be a single stand alone recorder that would record in
stereo and that would be able to go in to my system. I would like
something with a hard drive if there is such a thing. that way I could
edit from the recorder and not use so many cd blanks unless I need to.

any way list thanks so much.
all assistance would be appreciated.

When I ran Total Recorder before, also with Jaws 10, there was a setting

Recorder, and all I am able to do is record Jaws along with whatever
else is playing through the sound card, such as an Internet stream.

I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

Provided that both sound cards are enabled, you can easily do this with
JAWS, but it is a little more involved if you are using a
version of JAWS prior to 10. Please let me know what version of JAWS you
are using and I can let you know how to do it.

Hi all.
Yes. With background recording you record the internet stream silently,
meaning no sound card is used, therefore no JAWS or any other output
will be in the recording; just the internet stream. Replay A/V can also
do this but Total Recorder does this and a lot more.

Hope this helps.
