Hi!

Does anyone have or has anyone tried one of these radio sets? According to
the information at www.ccrane.com the radio is supposed to record FM and
AM broadcasts in MP3 format, you're apparently able to set the bit rate.
The radio also sports a line in and microphone jack.

The CCrane Witness is charged from a USB port on your computer, when its
connected you can copy the files from the radio to your computer for
storage etc.

The radio has some programmable timers but I expect that we won't be able
to use those.

Anyway supposing most of it is usable then I think the price is a good one
and I may consider buying one, I'm not worried so much about the timers,
so long as I can record radio at the touch of a button or two? Well that
will suit me just fine!

As a footnote to all this, I purchased the CCrane EP radio and it arrived
just in time for Christmas, the radio is reviewed at www.blindcooltech.com
and I've also written some additional notes on the set at my blog so feel
free to read and comment.

Not sure. Just going by the manual that's out there. C. Crane is actually
quite responsive so they might consider upgrading it if enough people bug them
about it.

I assume you're talking about the CC Witness radio? If so I just looked at
the manual and unless you can see it or have someone handy who can I don't
think you can use it. Everything appears to be menu driven including
switching from Am to Fm. You might be able to record at the touch of a
button but it doesn't look like much else is accessible.

List Problems May Be Resolved

2011-01-03 Thread Tom
Within about the last sixteen to eighteen hours I've received
275 messages saying a member's subscription has been disabled
due to excessive bounces. I've been in contact with the
webmaster and he thinks he has resolved the problem.

Unfortunately messages that did not post to the list are
gone. If your message did not appear on the list, feel free
to post it again.

I have reset the bounce flag on all 275 messages but if
anyone has problems receiving or sending messages please let
me know.

Sorry for the trouble.

Tom, The same happened to me on the Blindtech list. Gmail has been
quite reliable, so the allegation of accessive bouncing comes as quite a
surprise to me.

Re: CCrane Witness Radio

2011-01-03 Thread Dane Trethowan
Well the point about it all is that the radio can be updated, says so in the
specs I read on it so - if the radio does prove impossible to use - then
perhaps some updates can be applied in the future? I've decided to take the
plunge and order the radio anyway, see how far I get with it. After all! you
can only try and I'm not one of those blind people who just sit and whine about
how unusable everything is, even if I can only use the radio then having a
rechargable radio will be a God Send, its on special at the moment and if the
real worst comes to the real worst? Well I'm sure I'll find someone who can use
it smile.

Yep points taken and I'm nodding my head in both agreement and sympathy smile
but I have to admit that it would be nice to have a Stand-alone radio
recorder separate from computers and so on so the Witness may be the way to go?
Well we'll wait and see.

my faithful Panasonic RXED-50 has finally started to show its age of 10 years
and I can't get another one as Panasonic just recently - and finally! -
discontinued the model so I have to look for alternatives.
