Is there any secret to this one?

2011-01-04 Thread Larry Higgins
Hope somebody has a relatively easy solution to this one. I use
Winamp as my main audio player. There are a couple of my favorite
streams that use Windows Media Audio as their format for streaming.
The problem is that when using Winamp to listen to these streams, I
can't get titles to show up with either of them, and I don't remember
there ever having been an exception to that apparent rule. I have
looked through the configuration dialog for the decoder, but can'
find no option that gives me the desired result.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated,

Larry

Accessable Hard Drive for Hi Fi

2011-01-04 Thread Colin Phelan
Hi All,

I wonder if you can assist.
For use whilst on the move I rip all my music directly to MP3.
I still use a traditional hi fi for listening at home
I would like for a few reasons to pack away the c d 's and use something I
can connect to my hi fi to listen to music at home.
I am using a basic separates system that includes a Cyrus amplifyer with
little or no fancy connections.
I do not need an ipod for listening on the move otherwise I may go down that
route.
Is there some sort of hard drive I could use that is accessible and I can
just copy all the MP3's to.
Yes when it comes to hi fi I am about 15 years out of date but hey the Cirus
amp used to be leading edge and it still works!
Thanks for your assistance

Why a separate hard drive? Rip all your music to your computer's hard drive;
get a high-quality sound card; patch its output into an auxiliary input on
your amplifier; and use Winamp or another media player to play your music.
That's what I do.

Well the point about it all is that the radio can be updated, says so in
the specs I read on it so - if the radio does prove impossible to use -
then perhaps some updates can be applied in the future? I've decided to
take the plunge and order the radio anyway, see how far I get with it.
After all! you can only try and I'm not one of those blind people who just
sit and whine about how unusable everything is, even if I can only use the
radio then having a rechargable radio will be a God Send, its on special
at the moment and if the real worst comes to the real worst? Well I'm sure
I'll find someone who can use it smile.

The CCrane Witness is charged from a USB port on your computer, when
its connected you can copy the files from the radio to your computer
for storage etc.

The radio has some programmable timers but I expect that we won't be
able to use those.

Anyway supposing most of it is usable then I think the price is a good
one and I may consider buying one, I'm not worried so much about the
timers, so long as I can record radio at the touch of a button or
two? Well that will suit me just fine!

As a footnote to all this, I purchased the CCrane EP radio and it
arrived just in time for Christmas, the radio is reviewed at
www.blindcooltech.com and I've also written some additional notes on
the set at my blog so feel free to read and comment.

Needing information regarding an album.

I am in the process of looking for an album for a friend of mine, can't seem to
find it online.
I would like to find an MP3 download of this album, and I would pay for it.
Where can I find music that is a little hard to find and that is at a
reasonable price.
The album is called:
Three Wooden Crosses
It has different artists on it.
I hope someone can help.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Accessable Hard Drive for Hi Fi

2011-01-04 Thread André van Deventer
Come to think of it a complete sound card would be overkill I think.

A good Digital to Analog converter like the xitel pro if it is still
available would do the trick. And of course if you like hi fidelity audio I
would suggest you do not encode under 320 kbps if using mp3 or if at all
possible some kind of lossless format.

Andre
