Skype Talking

2011-04-10 Thread Dane Trethowan

Hi!

I'm sure many of you will have heard of Skype Talking but thought this
utility was worth another mention .

Now you can use Skype no matter what Screen Reader you're using or even
if you're not using a Screen Reader and that's great news, there are a
couple of applications out there which aren't Screen Dependent, Qwitter
- the very versatile Twitter client is one and Skype Talking another -.

So what does this mean? In a nutshell it means that you have a clean
accessible itnerface to Skype which is easy to use, no need for a Screen
Reader, no need to worry about scripts that seem often not to work the
way you think they ought to, no need to learn what may seem complex
layouts and so on.

New Garage Band tutorials available

2011-04-10 Thread Dane Trethowan

Hi!

2 new "Take Control" tutorials are available for the Garage Band music
creating, mixing and composition audio application called Garage Band
for the Mac and Iphone/ipad.

In the latest version of Garage Band, many new features have been
introduced and accessibility has been dramatically improved so if you're
a keen musician or you just want to record professional sounding
Podcasts with a few jingles then Garage Band may be just right for you.

Further to this if you're considering the switch to a Mac machine, an
Iphone or similar to take advantage of the huge benefits the Apple line
of products can deliver then perhaps you may consider joining the
"Mac-Access" mailing list , not only will you
be part of a forum that discusses all aspects of Macs and Apple products
but you'll be able to purchase any of the "Take Control" series of books
for a substancial discount, 80% discount in fact .

The "Take Control" series of books contains tutorials on just about
every aspect of available product including Iphone/Ipad, Itunes, Various
Apple Applcations and heaps of stuff on the Mac Machines themselves.

Now back to the Garage Band tutorials themselves,:
* "Take Control of Making Music with GarageBand '11": This 159-page
ebook provides step-by-step instructions and audio examples for using
GarageBand's built-in loops to create five songs, explaining not only
how to use GarageBand's editing and mixing features but also how to be
playful and creative while composing tunes that please the ear.
Readers will learn how to plan a song, get the most out of Magic
GarageBand, edit and arrange Real Instrument and Software Instrument
loops, score a video, craft a ringtone, create exciting mixes, and
export projects. The ebook also covers how to change track volume,
tempo, and panning dynamically, and how to work with GarageBand's effects.

* "Take Control of Recording with GarageBand '11": This 166-page ebook
explains how to create musical compositions with vocals, drums,
guitars, MIDI keyboards, and even the kitchen sink (make that leaky
faucet work for you!). Readers will learn how to get the most out of
their existing gear or purchase new equipment that fits their budget
and style. The ebook covers how to plan a recording session, and it
discusses real-world recording studio techniques for tasks such as
using a microphone effectively, getting the best sounds from your
gear, applying effects, fixing mistakes, using the 12 available amps
and the rich collection of stompbox effects, and recording multiple
tracks at once. Two example songs demonstrate many of the techniques
discussed.

Downloading mp3 files, changing to wave files for a standard audio cd.

2011-04-10 Thread Vinny Samarco

Hi,
I am wondering why I am not being successful in this venture.
I have some mp3 files that I am asked to put on audio cd in standard format.
I take the mp3 files, download them, then I use goldwave to save them as
wave files to play on a standard cd player, I also split the file into
tracks.
When I go to burn these onto standard audio cds they won't play, and I can't
figure out why not. I have made sure that the files were wave files at
44100, 16 byt. and yet the results will play on some mp3 players, but not
standard audio cds.

I have also tried this using cdex, but with the same result. I am using
express burn to burn my wave files. Can anyone think of what I am doing
wrong?

Thanks.
Vinny

Hi.
What version of Window-Eyes are you using? 7.5 comes with an app for
iTunes. Not sure if it will work for earlier 7.x releases but worth a shot.

Take care.

Do the wav files play on your computer?

When you burn your CD are you absolutely certain that you are choosing
to make an Audio CD, and not a data CD? You need to choose the Audio CD,
which basically means a standard 74 or 80 minutes CD with nothing but
audio on it.

I don't know how Express Burn represents this, though. I use Nero to
burn CDs, so I can't give specific instructions there.

Good luck.

Re: finding i-tunes, and using that along with other recording programs.

2011-04-10 Thread Brett Boyer

Hi. Itunes works fine with window-eyes. You can get it from apple.com.
To answer your other question... You cannot burn wave files to a cd and
expect it to play in a standard cd player. You need to make an audio cd so
whatever program you are using you must select audio cd. Audio cd's are
played using a file that ends with . CDA
Most programs that make audio cd's first have to convert your mp3's or wave
files to this format then burn the cd. For example windows media player.
