Disabling SB Capabilities

2011-06-11 Thread Steve Matzura
Does anyone know if it's possible to disable the Firewire port on a
Soundblaster Audigy card, and if so, how? I have another fw card I'd
prefer to use, and want to keep overall PC resources high and usage
low, so I thought if I could disable the fw port on the SB Audigy,
that might help. I know the driver is small, and it probably doesn't
take up any real measurable resources when it's not in use, but at
this point, any little bit would help. I've already figured out how to
remove the ASIO drivers from the registry, and somehow, magically,
when that happens, the drivers loaded at start time go away nicely and
I can replace them with other ASIO drivers for devices I really want
to use, but the same trick with Firewire eludes me at the moment.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Hi, Chris:

Do you know of a way to "test", and I put that word in quotes, a job

and the bit-rate and file settings are all good before the job is let
loose to do what it's supposed to do? I've never found a force-run or

Re: Siemens bluetooth Cordless Phone System

2011-06-11 Thread Steve Matzura
How many handsets can the system support, and how many does it come
with? Does any aspect of the system speak or have any kind of feedback
a blind person could use to set it up--choose ringers, read the
incoming or outgoing call logs, edit the dial directory, etc.? Can
these things be set up and loaded from a computer, or the logs read
from a computer? In other words, bottom line question, how accessible
is this thing?

Information in goldwave.

2011-06-11 Thread Anders Holmberg

Hello!
Years ago when i had jaws and goldwave i could read when goldwave was
recording or not.
FOr example if i had set a time to begin the recording there was a bar
telling me paused and then a countdown progressbar.

I have turned the settings window on under properties and recording.
Now i have tried this with window eyes nvda and jaws with no luck.
Any thoughts.

Hi.
No, I don't think there is a way to test the scheduled job. Perhaps it's
a suggestion we ought to bring to High Criteria's attention.

What do you think?

Well, you can have it check the URL when you first make the job, its
somewhat tricky to use, but it will tell you what it finds and you can
see if its a real stream, or a player of some kind.

Re: To all Total Recorder tutorials

2011-06-11 Thread Steve Matzura
I think it definitely should be brought to their attention. Any job in
the queue should have the ability to be run on demand and stopped
either on a schedule or, again, on demand. That's one of the beauties
of WinWGet. Except WinWGet isn't as fancy as TR in that there's no
scheduling function, and, to be honest, since WinWGet doesn't use
external programs to connect to and capture the stream, it actually
make a better, purer, recording because it just captures the raw
packets from the stream, doesn't re-encode anything another program is
playing. I sure wish TR worked this way, and if it doesn, somebody
needs to whack me over the head and tell me about it.

That's true, but can you record from that? If so, it's a good
workaround, albeit clumsy and fraught with the possibility of messing
something up if you change something without realizing you did it.

Reaper is very cool, and in its infancy, relatively speaking, so now's
the time to get in there and get your voice heard as it develops,
evolves, grows, improves. The way things are going with Sonar and
their new interface, Reaper could and probably will be the "next big
thing" in accessible MIDI and audio production software.
