It is a program for getting the audio of a DVD so you can listen to
it on

something else like an MP3 player, CD player or anything else with out
having to load the movie just to listen to a cirtain chapter or 2. I
love

it. It helped me learn how my movies should sound on a good surround
sound
system. When I went to listen to the Bose Lifestyle V35 when it came
out, I
knew what to listen for thanks to DVD Audio Extractor. I want to buy
it, but
sadly I'm buying all movies on Blu-Ray now and it can't do Blu-Ray
Disks
yet. I hope it becomes BD Audio Extractor soon. But yeah anyways,
that's

what it is. I use WMC to play DVDs. WMC is Windows Media Center. Media

I wanted to watch a DVD, Toy Story 3, on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop.
The DVD has audio description. Anyway, I tried playing it with Media
Player Classic Home Cinema, a DVD and general media player that comes
with the Combined Community Codec pack. Well I couldn't get as far as
the menu could I! Plus, the menu system of the application completely
disappeared! So next I tried VLC Media Player. This was slightly
better in that I could get at least the first chapter of the DVD
played. But when it moved onto the next chapter it repeated the first
one! So finally, I tried to play it with DVD Audio Extractor. It
worked a treat! The entire DVD played fine with absolutely no

So my recommendation for a fully accessible, easy to use DVD player,
which also happens to extract audio, is DVD Audio Extractor,
www.castudio.org. Unless there is another similar DVD player out there
that is just as fully accessible and easy to use, I might consider
purchasing the program!
Hope you like my recommendation, and happy viewing!

You don't have to subscribe to hear the book. Once it is purchased, you
simply need to use the Audible Manager program. It's free and does not

Depends on where you purchase them from. I'd suggest checking out the
terms and conditions of the site where you're purchasing your books,
Audible in this case. Does Audible allow you to burn their books to a CD
or copy them to an MP3 player? I'm not sure about Audible's terms and
conditions or how they enforce their DRM strategy, but I would assume
you can still listen to your Audible books even after you leave Audible.
You'd still be bound by the terms and conditions that you agreed to when
you bought the books though. I'm not exactly sure what you're objecting
to though, since I don't see the message you're replying to below.

It's been a long time since I've used Audible, and I don't think I have
the books I bought from Audbile around any more. I guess I should
probably check that Windows system where I put them, but I'm sure those
books are up on BARD by now. I've used Overdrive.com though, but that's
a bit different. I never purchased a book from Overdrive.com, I was just
borrowing them, and I obviously had to agree to get rid of any copies
I'd made when the lending period was over.

Media Player Classic Home Cinema

2012-02-20 Thread chris hallsworth

Hello all.
Well, I tried what someone suggested, either navigate to the title I
want to watch from the navigate menu, or open an ifo file from the
video_ts folder. I must be doing something wrong, as the menu still
comes up, but can't get any further than that. No bashing here, but at
least with DVD Audio Extractor's DVD player you can not only select a
title; you can select a chapter to listen to, which are all checked by
default. In fact, all I could see in the browse for folder dialogue box
was the video_ts folder, no ifos.

Please advise. Thanks!

i was a huge fan of this program until they came out with version 6. they
changed the registration and now you can only have it on one machine. plus,
the way you have to register now is very difficult and its very hard to
contact them or get any kind of support on it. i have version 5.3 that i
love so i would reccomend downloading and perchasing version 5.

As long as you have the hidden Audible activation file on your computer and

One I'vde found great is DBPoweramp - it does batch ripping from three or
four drives at once if you have them on your PC, it applies different
filters as it rips e.g. trimming silence normalising and using all the
processors at once when ripping. It also is an audio converter and does so
in batch. It compares tracks with 4 lookup lists to get accurate titling. I
like it.

dbPoweramp is indeed a good choice.
But the last time I tried it out it was not accessible.
I use EAC due to it's excellent CD-ripping implementation which includes secure

Dbpoweramp is in fact licensing the secure rip technology from EAC.
And by the way I rip all my CDs to FLAC.

Subject: ripping my collection: advantages of eAC vs mainstream rippers

Hi. I've been reading on list about eAC for ripping cd's and I know a few
people on here swear by it. Was just curious about some of the advantages using
it. I'm thinking of ripping my whole cd collection and throwing it all out. Is
eAC a program I should consider? I've used wmp and Itunes but I hear some
people r unhappy with the results.
thanks in advance for the help.

RE: Ia maulty track recorder question.

2012-02-20 Thread Hamit Campos
Yep, it's out. It's the Olympus LS-100. How ever from what I read on
The comments on their intro video of it on you tube, the editing of the
multi tracks doesn't talk as yet. But yeah, all the menus and stuff do talk.
I want one. It has phantom power and everything. If it sounds good enough, I
guess I won't need the Zoom H4N.

Me too. All though, I listened to a video on youtube From BH, and it sounds
pretty good. The guys at Olympus just replyed to my comment on their intro
vid, and they asked me what I wanted to hear since they do intend to do a
demo of it, so I guess we'll hear more soon. Then there's always weighting
until Neal Ewers gets one. No pressure if you read this Neal. But yeah, his
demos are just so awesome and informative.

RE: ripping my collection: advantages of eAC vs mainstream rippers

2012-02-20 Thread Tim Crawford (GI4OPH)
Hi Brett,

I used exact audio copy to rip my cd collection, comprising around 1000
discs to flac. To date I haven't encountered any tracks with audible
artefacts, even those which eac reported as having possible errors.

Eac seems to be generally regarded as the most accurate ripping tool around.
By utilising both secure mode, and the accurate rip facility, I reckon you
can be pretty sure if eac reports no errors you have a perfect copy.

The process of ripping even a collection of a few hundred discs can be time
consuming, so it pays to get it right first time.

With this in mind, I personally feel it's well worth taking the time to
learn and configure exact audio copy.

Cheers,

Tim.

Ok I don't think I have the space for flak files. I was hoping mp3 at 320k
to conserve space. So would eAC still be a good choice? Or am I insane for
ripping to mp3s. and I should just wait untill I can get some more space.

Hi Brett,

I used exact audio copy to rip my cd collection, comprising around 1000
discs to flac. To date I haven't encountered any tracks with audible
artefacts, even those which eac reported as having possible errors.

Eac seems to be generally regarded as the most accurate ripping tool
around.

By utilising both secure mode, and the accurate rip facility, I reckon you
can be pretty sure if eac reports no errors you have a perfect copy.

The process of ripping even a collection of a few hundred discs can be
time

consuming, so it pays to get it right first time.

With this in mind, I personally feel it's well worth taking the time to
learn and configure exact audio copy.

Cheers,

Tim.

Hi. I've been reading on list about eAC for ripping cd's and I know a
few people on here swear by it. Was just curious about some of the
advantages using it. I'm thinking of ripping my whole cd collection and
throwing it all out. Is eAC a program I should consider? I've used wmp and
Itunes but I hear some people r unhappy with the results.
thanks in advance for the help.

Me too. All though, I listened to a video on youtube From BH, and it
sounds

pretty good. The guys at Olympus just replyed to my comment on their intro
vid, and they asked me what I wanted to hear since they do intend to do a
demo of it, so I guess we'll hear more soon. Then there's always weighting
until Neal Ewers gets one. No pressure if you read this Neal. But yeah,
his

demos are just so awesome and informative.

I believe it's the LS 100 by Olympus and it came out Feb 7 for $400. I
have
been looking for someone who has actually had their hands on it but
haven't

found anyone who has actually tried it yet. It's looks pretty good on the
web site but so does e everything LOL!

I rip to MP3, and I use something less than a 320K bit rate, so I don't
think you're insane, but it depends on what you'll be doing with these
ripped files. For my part, I'm not an audiophile and I'm not going to be
playing these on a high fidelity system, so I make some allowances for
speed and convenience.

If I had the ears that I had when I was younger, and I had the time and
the space, then I'd be considering EAC and FLAC myself.

IMHO, you're not insane for going with what makes sense for your situation.
