Re: Looking for a new mic

2012-11-07 Thread ken reed

   Hi Reed.

Talk to the people at soundprofessionals.
I have a plug powerd mic from them. It might cost you around $50.
It's a stereo mic that's shapted like a tube with a mic at each end , and
the wire in the center.

I can verify that it works with the bookport plus.
It does a better job then ther internal mic.
Try

good luck.

Hello the list!

For a number of years I have been using a Sony ecm ms907 stereo mic.
It has now packed it in. So, I'm looking for a new small portable stereo
mic.
Sony Style in Canada still has the ecm ms907 for around $129.00.
This mic has been around for years. So, I'm wondering if there is something
better out there.
I will be using it for recording my piano lessons, occasionally, small
musical groups, and outdoor sounds.
$200.00 is my upper limit.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Reed

World Blind Union General Assembly

2012-11-07 Thread Stephen jolley
Here is some info about Internet streaming including mobile access to the
proceedings of the World Blind Union General Assembly.

>From this Saturday November 10 to Friday November 16, the World Blind Union
(WBU) and International Council for Education of People with Visual
Impairment (ICEVI) will be holding General Assembly events in Bangkok
Thailand. The best starting point for all information is the WBU website,
http://www.worldblindunion.org.

Once again, ACB Radio is providing live streaming and this will be via the
ACB Radio World channel.

You can get to streams and related info from my page under the 'Special
Events' heading

http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/livestreams.html

For mobile users, below is a link that works on iOS devices such as iPhone
and iPad and may on other platforms.

Opening the following link on your iOS device will bring up a Safari page
with two links. They are to two versions of the ACB Radio World feed, being
a high quality and a low quality link.

http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/acb_radio_world.html

Good luck and good listening.

Stephen

Re: DAW software and related topics

2012-11-07 Thread Brian Olesen

Hi Dave,
Daw just stands for digital audio workstation meaning programs like sonar or
reper.
Yes daw software is quite accessible by adding some scripts and such to your
jaws installation.
But I guess your unit is supposed to maybe controlled by a vst, and nobody
knows, if that VST itself is too accessible.
So that could cause a little trouble. But on the other hand it could also be
that your unit is controlled by midi, and then it's another and better
story. :-)
But then again. then you could just use your daw as intended, and wouldnt
need your recorder.

Best regards
Brian

Hi Everyone,

I own a stand-alone Zoom HD8 hard disk digital recorder. It is menue
driven, but has no speech for navigating the menues. Nevertheless, over
time I have been able to learn how to access some of its features, and am
in the process of writing a guide for totally blind users. One of its
supposed selling points is that it can be connected to a computer and used
in conjunction with it through the use of DAW software. Does anybody know
if JAWS can deal with DAW software? Thanks for any information in this
regard.
