Re: victor reader stream question
Hi Joe, You can get a card reader from Radio Shack for ten dollars or so. I have a first generation stream and never use the USB port to connect it. It is so much faster to transfer files using a card reader. This would be a very inexpensive way to fix your problem. RE: victor reader stream question
I had a similar problem with my first generation Stream. I sent it back to Humanware, as with yours, it was out of warranty. They said it was a problem with the motherboard/circuit board. They were unwilling to attempt to fix it. They said I could either transfer items using an external card reader or buy a new unit. Not exactly the best customer service. I hope you've got a different problem, but I've seen reports of similar failures on many of these lists. Good luck. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Joe Bollard Sent: Tuesday, September 24, 2013 9:35 AM To: pc- audio Subject: victor reader stream question hello friends, i have never had any problems with my victor reader stream which i've had for over three years and use regularly to read my audio books, but the day before yesterday i tried plugging it in to my laptop, and the laptop couldn't find it, i changed USB cables, but still no joy i tried yet another USB cable, without success, it still wasn't recognising the victor reader stream, in desperation i switched to my desktop, still no luck, i tried taking the battery out and putting it in again, zilch, the reader stream is fully charged, i have lotsof space left on it, with only one book waiting to be read, i'm totally perplexed, i'm an avid reader, and dread the thought of being without my reader, can anyone suggest something that will solve this problem for me, any help will be really appreciated, god bless, take care, travel safely, joe bollard, the republic of ireland. RE: victor reader stream question
Hello Joe. Perhaps the USB port on your stream has failed. You could purchase a card reader and download your books onto your storage card. Otherwise, you may have to send your stream in for repair or even purchase a new one depending on the repair costs. I'm sorry that this has happened to you. Unfortunately, these devices don't last indefinitely. Re: BlueRay Players
Hi I have been using a PS3 as a blue ray player for the last year or so. The player is slightly bigger than the standard set top box and it has 2 buttons only, eject and on/off. I bought a sony remote to control it and this works fine but does depend on how much sight you have. I say this because a recent upgrade changed the sequence of buttons i needed to press to access the player. My kids do use it as their main games console as well so it did make a lot of sense financially. Will definitely need some sight for set up and orientation.
