Re: Replay Music 6 Audio Tutorials Are Here

2013-11-28 Thread Petro Giannakopoulos
Please listen to the Replay Music 6 audio tutorial. You can use Replay
Music 6 in many ways and they are,

- record music streams that have silence between tracks which will
enable your tracks to be identified with track title, artist and album name.

- record an audio source like from Winamp or from your browser
- if the stream your recording doesn't have silence between tracks you
can manually split the tracks by pressing ctrl+s at the end of each
track to split the track or by pressing the split tracks button
- you can manually split tracks from a long recording you may have done
in the past. Like from a long mp3 file.

Hi
Do you have the Applian suite of products or just Replay Music 6? The
audio tutorials will show you how to use Replay Music 6. Replay Music
6 is not available yet as a download. The installation process is very
simple. You simply listen to each installation window that pops up
during the install, if you want to hear the window again you press
insert+b, press the next button each time except at two windows, one
window you will tab around to the I Do Not Agree and press up arrow to
go to the I Agree button and then tab to the next button and spacebar.
When the install is finished you have two buttons, Launch and Exit
both accessible with the tab key. Launch will launch the program and
exit will finish the installation.

To upgrade, simply download Replay Music 6 when it is available and
install it.

Run Replay Music 6 from its desktop icon. Read each of its helpful
hints. When done with the hints press spacebar on the ABOUT button
within Replay Music 6.

In the About window you will see the upgrade link.

Press the upgrade link and follow the steps.

RE: Audacity Versus Reaper for Multitrack Recording

2013-11-28 Thread David Bailes
Hi Ted,
concerning the latency in Audacity.
There is a setting for a latency correction in audacity. In the preferences
dialog, in the recording category, there's a latency correction edit box. The
default value of the correction is -130ms, and the more negative the value, the
larger the correction.
There are a couple of ways of adjusting this value so that tracks line up
correctly.
1. The first is just to use trial and error. You don't need to get it more
accurate than about 10ms.
2. The second is to use a method such as the one described in a guide to
audacity for jaws users, which is available at:
http://goo.gl/Qi2CeD
In the recording section of this guide, there's a sub section on latency
correction.

In addition to these two methods, I'm aware that someone is working on a
plug-in to partly automate the measurement of the latency, but I'm not sure
when this will be available,

David.

original message:
Personally, I could not get tracks to sync up together so that they sounded
correctly like they would in sonar or reaper. If someone could tell me how
to make tracks line up the way they are supposed to, I would give it a try
again.

For example, while recording vocals, my second harmony part would not stay
with the first, and I did not know how to make it line up.

That is my two cents worth.

CCrane II Enhanced Radio

2013-11-28 Thread Dane Trethowan
Hi!

I was fortunate to have had a demo of this radio earlier today and I consider
it to be the best efert from Ccrane to date.

Perhaps the sensitivity isn't quite that of the CC II but the CC II had
overloading problems whereas the CC II/E does not.

The FM band is a killer on the CC II/E whereas the FM band on the CC II -
whilst very good - isn't as good as that found on the newer model.

Sound quality for the CC II/E is brilliant, - if you've ever heard a GE Super
Radio II then you'll appreciate the quality of this model -.

All the usual standard features of the CC II are still available including line
in and out, time recording, weather and 2 metre Ham band etc.

The CC II/E can be purchased from http://www.ccrane.com for $140.00

Re: CCrane II Enhanced Radio

2013-11-28 Thread Dane Trethowan
Sorry I forgot to mention that.

Unlike the previous model the tuning is muted for around half a second when the
fine tuning knob or the up/down buttons are pressed.

With the CC II the tuning was only muted when the up/down buttons were used.

To me this isn't a critical issue given that you can count how many times you
press the up/down tuning buttons and the fine tuning knob clicks for every step
you take.

Message Footers

2013-11-28 Thread Tom

Ladies and gentlemen,

Would those of you who have several lines of footer on your
posts to the PC Audio e-mail list shorten them to one or two
lines, or, even better remove them altogether? It makes it
very difficult for subscribers who receive the digest version
of the list to move from one message to the next. It would
also be helpful if you would trim the quoted message to just
a few lines.

Thank you,

Tom, PC Audio list owner.

Good Radio Sets for Long Distance Listening

2013-11-28 Thread Dane Trethowan

Sent from Dane's iPhone +613400494862
Hi!

I mentioned the CC II/E radio in a previous post, this radio is okay for long
Distance lisetning on the Am band however its more geared to quality sound than
actual sensitivity but still performs reasonably well.

There is another set I've mentioned quite some time ago that is red hot! when
it comes to AM Long Distance listening and is at a bargain price.

The set I'm referring to is the excellent Sangean PRD5 radio.

To prove the point of just how good it is, its just after 20 minutes to 9 on
Friday morning local time and I'm clearly listening to a country station in
Swanhill, that's around 195 miles from here.

This radio - whilst sensitive - does not have excellent audio quality though
its acceptable.

The radio doesn't show any signs of overload wunlike the CC II.

The sangean PRD5 has 2 2.5 inch stereo speakers and FM sounds quite reasonable
though its not very selective though certainly not the worst FM receiver around.

This radio doesn't have a built-in recorder of any kind however it can be
connected to a wide variety of recording equipment thanks to the line-out,
line-in and remote jacks located on the rear of the radio.

You could run a patch cord from the line-out of the radio to the line-in of a
portable digital recorder such as the Zoom H1 for example.

The remote control facility is very comprehensive giving the user the choice of
3 timers which can turn not only the radio on and off at preset times but can
also turn a connected recorder on and off at those same times as the radio, I
believe the CCrane make a matching recording unit for this functionality of the
radio.

Whilst a person with no vision would have no problems whatever in using the
line-out facility there would be problems setting up the 3 timers as they
require reference to the display for setting of the on/off times, source,
duration and so on.
