Re: noise reduction with Audacity

2014-06-15 Thread Gary Wood
I don't know whether I can be of much help, but I heard someone use Audacity
with noise reduction. It seems like it took out the noise, but it didn't
seem to lose any sound quality, and still kept the highs. That sounded that
way to me. There were none of the artifacts like I noticed when I used the
Soundforge Noise Reduction; so it may sound good for you then.

Hi everybody,
I'm attempting to use Audacity to remove background noise from a sound file.
I need the benefit of anybody out there's experience as to how to use the
noise reduction feature. In other words, Help! help! Help!

Thanks in advance for any information.

Re: bluetooth problem: one for the books

2014-06-15 Thread Kulvinder Singh Bhogal
Hi there

Latency is par for the course where bluetooth is concerned.

Afterall the signal has to be encoded and then transmitted to the receiving
device.

I’m afraid that it is the way it is and as far as I can see, there is nothing,
at this time, that would work any better.

Sorry that i can’t be of any more help than that.

regards

Hello, Everyone,

I have been involved in the audio field since about 1947!! (Yes, that's right.)
This odd situation is simply unknown to me!

I have a mixer which feeds a transmitter. The receiver is attached to a PA
system. This works as it should, but it's a bit cumbersome. I have a tiny
bluetooth transmitter and a receiver. My plan was to replace my present setup
with the bluetooth gear.

The system works but not as expected. There's about a half second latency
between the transmitted signal and when it's received.

I substituted a Victor Stream for the mixer and the sound was fine. Well, I
couldn't check about latency.

I found this out when talking into a mike and hearing the PA system coming back
to me.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this rather bizarre situation.

2014-06-15 Thread Alexandra Grünauer
Hi John,

I had the chance to have a brief look at the Blaze EZ and found the webinar
a good complement.

Hi,
Nice webenar. But the unit I've been told is a bit thick more then the
double of a mobile phone.
That isn't impressive at all.

Best regards
Brian

I wasn't very impressed with the demo though. He only used the camera once
briefly on a piece of mail. I would like to have heard it read a range of
material. It made me suspicious that perhaps it isn't that good. In fact,
later on he said it was very unforgiving regarding distance from the print.
He played a bit of an audio book but I would like to have heard it read a
text formatted book as well. He didn't demo the wifi or Bluetooth either
although he told us about it. Overall, I feel much less inspired by the
product now which is a shame. I'd be interested to know what others got out
of it.

Nice stuff but there's a download link very visible on the page, just look
for Download with your Screen Reader smile.

Actually Hims Inc have set up a feature on that page I've never seen used
before, I can't remember exactly what I did but I clicked on one of the
links on that page and I was prompted then to sign into my Dropbox account,
after the sign in was completed I was asked if I wanted to save the audio
file to my Dropbox, how convenient is that! meant I had access to the file
from all the computers and devices associated with my Dropbox account.

More exciting news coming.
