The volume up and down (ctrl-uparrow and ctrl-downarrow) does not work on my 
win7 32 bit pc. Is there an alternative?

Can't answer regarding JAWS, I know that with Window-Eyes you have to 
use the bypass key before you operate the volume up/down.

converors that allow you to record an electric guitar directly. however they 
can have big latency problems. has anybody tried the 1384 soundcards for 
similar type of thing? do they remove the latency problem. i have read that 
they have about 11ms latency whichis just not going to be noticible.

Okay...I've taken a quick glance at this; from what I'm seeing (keep in mind 
that maybe I need to look more closely at a later time) but from what I'm 
seeing so far, the approach is pretty much a description of VLC from the 
sighted person's perspective (nothing that indicates shortcut keys or anything 
that tells us as blind-visually impaired people how to go about getting VLC to

If i remember correctly you could change hotkeys and shortcuts in the vlc 
preferences.
Haven’t done that so i don’t know if it will work but thats something you might 
try.
