Re: The Talking DAISY Book & Media Player from Accessible Electronics - AccessWorld® - June 2016
I should also point out that the company who sells this thing - Accessible Electronics - also sell the Victor Reader Stream second generation so can easily get one of those if I decide but that's too much duplication for me I think so the former device would suit me better. iTunes issue solved, here's some valuable info
Hi guys! Through a bit of research, I finally got my tones onto my phone. To make this short and really simple, if you see that ominous erase and sync button, do not panic! It will not actually erase anything from your phone, at least as far as ringtones go. Just to be safe, after pressing the erase and sync button, I was then able to see that old familiar screen with the 2 radio buttons sync selected tones or sync all ringtones. To be safe, I chose all ringtones and when i synced, everything showed up just as it should. That erase and sync button and the super-scary message that goes along with it is probably one of the most poorly-worded error messages I've ever seen. So if you run into this sort of thing, be sure to read the iTunes sreens very carefully, so you'll be able to tell how many tones you're syncing. In short it works and I'm very happy with the results. Thanks guys!
Re: problems adding custom made ringtones to iTunes in windows 10
Hi I just don't want to bother them because someone else really might be in a jam, and *really* need some accessibility help. I'm pretty good with setting up an iDevice, I've set several up now but what if a newby is calling for the very first time and is upset and confused? Sure, I understand I qualify, but that doesn't make it so. If I can't find any answers that may be what I have to do. I've seen a lot of stuff about this on the internet, and the sollution to transfer purchases works for some folks but not others. I very rarely do this but this is one of the very rare times when I would love to see iOS become more like Android. On a droid you can just put an SD card into a reader, or connect your phone to the pc with a USB cable, and copy and paste your tones in the proppper place, and they just work. hello, did you do a complete backup of your iphone once you have it setup how you want? if so, then you have nothing to worry about the backup will preserve everything you have on your phone. - Original Message - From: "Chris Skarstad" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Tuesday, June 14, 2016 5:13 PM Subject: Re: problems adding custom made ringtones to iTunes in windows 10 Well, I'm not having any problems with the accessibility of the product, all the screens read exactly as they should. Clarification on the iTunes and custom ringtones issue...
Hi folks I feel like I may not have explained myself well enough before, so please let me try to explain things a bit better by going through the steps I do to do this, and then maybe someone with some knowledge can tell me where I may be going wrong if I am. I don't know if I am that's the thing. I have imported a folder full of custom made ringtones into iTunes. They're in the usual m4r format, and show up just fine when I go into the view menu, then media kind and arrow down to tones and press enter. So, they all show up and iTunes recognizes them just fine. 2. next, I already have my iPhone connected to my pc so I tab over to the button labeled iPhone and press the space bar. I am now presented with a screen that pops up and shows me several different things, most notably a list of different playlists. if I am understanding this correctly, all the tones I've already imported are marked to be synced to my iPhone. Window-eyes does not read the state of this, so I'm going purely on guess work here. So, I find the list of playlists by arrowing down until I hear tones, and then I keep tabbing to the sync tones checkbox. This is different from before, because there used to be a radio button that said sync selected tones. But all I've got here is a sync tones checkbox, so when I check it, iTunes displays the following message. Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones from this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library? Music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones synced to Chris's iPhone” from other iTunes libraries will be removed and items will be synced from this iTunes library.' My only 2 choices are, erase and sync, or cancel. The question isif I hit that Erase and sync button will the only thing that's erased will be my tones? or, will everything on the phone be erased? Why can't this just be simple? I hope someone will kindly correct me if I'm doing this incorrectly. Thanks.

Re: Short Wave Radio: End Of An Irra
I take it you mean the Tecsun PL880? I’d have to say I’prefer the Eton Satellite though it costs a bit extra. Why would I prefer the Eton? Because it performs well on all its radio bands. The Tecsun PL880 has some problems on the Medium Wave band though performs well on Short Wave and FM The PL880 is a little bigger than the Eton, has a bigger speaker and obviously a better sound but the Eton - given its size - has damn good sound. The Interface of the Tecsun is perhaps a littler easier to work with. The The Tecsun PL880 takes a lithium-ion battery whereas the Eton runs on 4 AA type batteries which are available everywhere. > On 15 Jun 2016, at 5:46 AM, tim cumings wrote: > > if you were to choose one radio to buy, would you get the Eaton satellite or > the Texan 880? > > Sent from my iPhone > >> On Jun 14, 2016, at 12:31 PM, Dane Trethowan >> wrote: >> >> Indeed it is yes. >> >> >> I learnt today that Sony have finally stopped production of the highly >> successful model ICF-SW7600GR radio >> >> >> First it was the ICF-SW7600G released in 1994 which was upgraded to the GR >> >> >> The GR boasted 10 times the memory locations - the G had 10 and the GR 100 - >> along with a RF Gain control - the G only had a Local/DX switch - but apart >> from that both models were the same giving the user excellent reception on >> the Long, Medium and Short Wave bands. if you were to choose one radio to buy, would you get the Eaton satellite or the Texan 880? problems adding custom made ringtones to iTunes in windows 10
Hi guys i hope the subject line was clear enough, sometimes I'm horrible at that. Anyways, let me explain a little further. I had iTunes running on my Windows 7 machine for many years, and I was successfully able to create a custom ringtone for my iPhone as a .m4r file, and sync it to my phone successfully. Hi Jim, In the DM-720 The battery door now also uncovers the micro SD card slot. As for Lists button etc, I think they overlap in functionality. I tend to use the button on bottom right to navigate to different folders, pressing once or twice as needed. Also, in case you encounter issues, when trying to recharge the internal battery, through plugging in to a USB charger, you need to press the OK button an additional time after choosing charging from the connect menu, to activate charging. I presume it is an 'are you sure?' warning, but it isn't presented via Voice Guidance. Short Wave Radio: End Of An Irra
Indeed it is yes. I learnt today that Sony have finally stopped production of the highly successful model ICF-SW7600GR radio First it was the ICF-SW7600G released in 1994 which was upgraded to the GR The GR boasted 10 times the memory locations - the G had 10 and the GR 100 - along with a RF Gain control - the G only had a Local/DX switch - but apart from that both models were the same giving the user excellent reception on the Long, Medium and Short Wave bands. On FM sensitivity was very good but selectivity was very poor. The ICF-SW7600 offered a very good Sync feature allowing the user to get better reception of weaker stations, stop fading and so forth. Many regard the 7600 as a reference for testing other radio sets. The only complaint about the 7600 I have its its extremely bad audio quality compared to other receivers. The price of the 7600 has dropped markedly too since its introduction. In Australia when I bought my first 22 years ago I had to pay near $500 for the radio but now the price has halved. The 7600 was originally made in a Japanese factory with production switching to Malasia though quality remained exactly the same. It is a shame that Sony decided to discontinue this set, with DSP technology as it is now Sony could have turned the 7600 into a real killer radio. Should you buy one whilst you can? Well that's a personal thing I guess but for the money you can get just as good or even better a portable set of around the same size, the Eton Satellite immediately comes to mind. The Eton has just as good - if not better - sensitivity on Long, Medium and Short Wave bands, with the addition of an Air Band. FM on the Eton wipes the floor with the older Sony 7600 model and the audio of the Eton Satellit is far nicer, wonderful bass and nice high crisp treble which makes the radio sound a lot bigger than it actually is.. The Eton Satellite includes a wide/narrow filter selection of four filters that the older Sony didn't have but certainly should have had in my opinion. Anyway if you have an older Sony ICF-SW7600G or GR than may it give you many hours of happy listening still but you will be pleasantly surprised if you're able to upgrade to an Eton Satellit or - for those on a budget - a Sangean ATS405. -- ** Those who don't need help are prepared to help themselves
