Re: Rogue Amoeba | Airfoil: Wireless audio around your house

2016-07-17 Thread Dane Trethowan
I've not experienced anything like this so can't comment except to say
that on the Airfoil web site there are heaps of troubleshooting tips so
you might like to get your friend Google onto this as I've done in the
past when I've had Airfoil issues.

Again, make sure your firewall is allowing Airfoil to have access to all
the resources it needs.

You’ll just have to test things out for your particular system, press tab to
move to each button and then press the spacebar to activate that button, I know
its an annoyance but that’s exactly what I had to do to learn the layout of the
thing.

Now the buttons will be obvious as you test, one will minimise Airfoil, another
exits Airfoil and another brings up the source list, these are the devices you
can capture sound from to be streamed to your Airport Express or whatever.

Another thing you’ll have to possibly look at is your Firewall, Airfoil
probably won’t be able to transmit to your Airport Express until your Firewall
allows it to do so, in which case Airfoil will probably report an error message
and your Firewall - depending on what you’re using - may come up and ask you if
you wish to allow Airfoil to connect to your network or similar.

the volume as 100%. Is there perhaps something in Winamp I should set or if you
do not use winamp, can you suggest another player?

Yep certainly.

You stream Winamp to your Airport Express by first running Airfoil and
then pressing the "Source" button, its identified by tabbing to it, its
about the third button along and your screen reader should announce
"Toggle" as well as "Button", press the button with the Spacebar and a
list will pop-up of all the physical sound devices and software you can
capture the sound output from, Winamp should be amongst these but if it
isn't then move to "Choose Other App" and select Winamp From there.

Next press all to bring up the menu system and press T for Transmit,
select Airport Express and start streaming.

I’ve never bothered with the user manual for Airfoil - whether it be Windows or
Mac - and there are more than likely things I’ve missed, I just messed about
with Airfoil until I got the product to do what I’ve wanted it to do.

I guess you can ask questions so I and others may answer.

I did the upgrade and now I am just wondering: do you perhaps have a user

New versions of Airfoil have been released for Mac and Windows, discover what
this amazing audio streaming product can do.

I use both Airfoil on Windows and Mac, accessibility on the Windows PC is okay,
you can tab through the buttons and get to the menu system.

Yep it does so I'm wondering what type of system the Cambridge Audio
tuner users? Perhaps Google will turn something up about this.

Again thanks for putting me in the know.

I can't speculate about the internet radio part of your question. Hope
this helps.

Hi!

I'm not expecting an answer to my e-mail message to be honest but
perhaps there is someone out there who might be able to fill me in.

I know of the Sirius Radio service and I know its only available in
the U.S. which is unfortunate.

I also know that my Cambridge Audio 650T Digital DAB+FM/AM tuner can
accept some sort of Sirius Radio modual and its this that I'm
interested in.

Does anyone know of Sirius Radio Modules and how they connect? The
Tuner has a 9 Pin RS232C serial connecter, a 3.5MM mini jack and 2
RCA sockets, I know the RCA sockets act as line-in for the Sirius
Radio module and I think the 3.5MM jack is also part of the
connection but what about the RS232C socket, is that part of it too?

So where is all this leading you ask, well I'm wondering if the tuner
can support a Sirius Radio Module could it support an Internet Radio
module?

Obviously the Sirius Radio one has some sort of connection to a
satellite dish or something similar I'd imagine so an Internet radio
module would therefore have to have a LAN jack or perhaps Wi-Fi as
part of it.

Any ifway if someone has some views on this I'd be interested in them.

Cheers
