Re: Degen 1103 portable radio version 2.0
Yep point taken but be aware that you can get better travelling radios. The 1103 is indeed a budget priced radio and the sound is okay but not good. Then it does have some overloading issues to consider. Some of what the 1103 offers - including setting presets is very difficult for a totally blind person though not impossible. All in all it goes back to what I said a couple of weeks ago, evaluate a radio on exactly what you want from it. The 1103 does perform well over bands but its a cheap radio and I myself - if I were travelling - would much prefer the Eton Satellite even though its more expensive, its a better performing radio, easily accessible etc. On 22/07/2016 12:04 PM, Donald L. Re: Bowers And Wilkins MM1 Computer Speakers
Ah yes no doubt about it, when in their proper place and when you're sitting down in your proper place they're excellent and again I say that the MM1's are the best computer speakers I've heard given their size, the fact they're not relying on any sub-woofer system at all etc. I hope you get to hear the A7 one day, everyone I know who has heard that thing has commented on its wonderful sound, even the Old Man said it sounded good and if he comes out with a comment like that? Well it must be absolutely true, he's really picky you know . On 22/07/2016 9:37 AM, Mary Otten wrote: That is certainly true about the MM one and sound projection. On the other hand - if you want something that projects sound far and wide - and sounds as good at one end of the house as it does the other - then something like the A7 might be the go, the A7 I have myself and it also hooks up to the USB port of your computer which is a great touch for a speaker system. The price is fairly typical yes but I have a question, you have a Sony 2010 do you not so why do you want to downgrade to a Degen 1103? That’s pretty much what your doing. The Degen is a much smaller size and - whilst there’s no argument whatever that as a budget radio it performs very well - the 2010 is better. I agree. But there's a setting that enables you to have the speakers turn off each time you turn off the computer. Peter, I didn't notice any disadvantages but I probably don't use Sound Forge at the level that some of you do. At some point, I started having trouble with selecting audio with mark in and mark out, and I don't know what the source of that trouble is. I think I had that trouble with Sound Forge 10, though, as well. I also can't say that I found any advantages, either. Well in that CTRL R alone starts the recording I don't know how you get tat part you use to before where you can turn the monitor on and what not. Ah cool. I understand. Tones you can add to Skype
Okay, my audio engineer friend has passed along some ring tones and such he recorded which can be added to Skype or perhaps other VOIP clients. To add them to Skype for Windows you use the Import Sounds function. There are 4 tones in this archive and they’re in both Wave and M4A format and they may not be familiar to anyone outside Australia who hasn’t heard the Australian telephone tones but enjoy just the same. There’s an old Australian phone bell ring, a modern Touch phone electronic ring, the ring tone when you dial out and you wait for the other party to answer and a busy tone. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10565527/Magister%20Ring%20Tones.zip ** Those of a positive and enquiring frame of mind will leave the rest of the halfwits in this world behind.
