It shouldn't have any limits as the "Favourites" function isn't actually a part of the Stream itself, - if all the other Internet radio sets I know of are anything to go by - Favorites are stored online and the radio accesses that list when it needs to. I've just learned that the first generation Victor Reader Stream will handle SDXC cards, you just need to format them via the menus no different than the second gen. sounds like good times. Re: VRS & Internet Radio
Hi! I'm not a Victor Reader Stream user and I don't use my iPhone much for Internet radio however I believe I use a far better solution than a Victor Reader Stream will ever be and an iPhone is part of this - or indeed an Android phone if you'd prefer -, the phone acts as the remote control for my Sangean Internet radios and tuners here. Yes, variations of these are available in America. For Australia and Europe Sangean offer Multi Band multi function Internet radios and - in Australia at least - there are four models to choose from, two portable units, a tabletop music system and a Hi-Fi tuner so choose the one that reflects your needs. In The U.S., Sangean have the WRF28 or WRF28, as far as I know those two units are battery portable sets. The App for Android/iPhone is very easy to use and even mirrors the display of the radio. All Sangean models now come with Spotify Connect and the App itself has been updated so the user can stream an iTunes library from the phone itself to the radio. Naturally there are a lot more details I could give about these radios and their setups and I really should do another Podcast on the whole subject, I did one 3 years ago I think it was but since then the whole thing has gone ahead in leaps and bounds. RE: VRS & Internet Radio
The Victor second gen is other than sitting at the PC, the only streaming device I use and I've never heard of only 35 presets. The presets are limited to either you taking the time to find and save the presets or, you installing whatever playlist M3U's etc that you've put together yourself, but 35 is news to me. Note: just because I've never heard of 35 being the limit, certainly doesn't mean that it's not the case. Stations will slip in and out from time to time no different than most streaming devices. So it's entirely up to you as are most other things right? -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Colin Phelan Sent: Wednesday, October 26, 2016 10:07 AM To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Subject: VRS & Internet Radio Hi Guys, Seeing that many of you appear to be VRS users. I myself am only using a 128GB card and haven't filled that up yet, but I am not one who hangs on to books etc. like most seem to. So the size is entirely up to your individual budget or lack there of. I myself would go with the PNY cards and choose whatever size fitting your comfort level with the cost. Amazon is a great place to go and look/purchase. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Kenny Sent: Wednesday, October 26, 2016 3:40 AM To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Subject: Recommendations for a Large Capacity SD Card for my VRS? Hello, I'm looking to purchase a large capacity card to store a large quantity of OTR shows encoded in MP3 format on. I'm sick of swapping 64 GB cards for listening to various genres saved on several SD cards. Just want one big boy card to put the majority of them on. What is the largest capacity SD card the Victory Reader Stream can handle? Also what is the best brand to buy that will last the longest period of time? Thanks for any recommendations.
RE: VRS & Internet Radio
The VRS has a robust library of radio streams you can search through quite easily. I simply save them as Favorites. I do hope one day they can add paid services like TuneIn and Spotify to the services which can be programmed in the VRS. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Colin Phelan Sent: Wednesday, October 26, 2016 1:07 PM To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Subject: VRS & Internet Radio Hi Guys, Seeing that many of you appear to be VRS users. I recently considered buying one rather than another mainstream Internet radio as a preference to listening to streaming radio stations on my I phone. I was initially told the internet radio on the VRS was simple to use and had 35 pre sets. A couple of folk then said stick with your I phone for internet radio Peoples views would be appreciated. My main criteria is stable streaming, as an example my I phone cuts out much more often than my static Roberts internet radio. Where do we think the technology in the VRS sits Thanks Colin
RE: Recommendations for a Large Capacity SD Card for my VRS?
Really? The VRS can bring up files stored on a USB drive? Thought that port could only be used for recharging? Mines is over two years old, so I'm not sure what adaptor you're speaking? Is there a model or brand? -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Brian Olesen Sent: Wednesday, October 26, 2016 7:13 AM To: 'PC Audio Discussion List'Subject: SV: Recommendations for a Large Capacity SD Card for my VRS? RE: Recommendations for a Large Capacity SD Card for my VRS?
Yes, that is what they will tell you, but several of us have been successfully using what is known as SDXC cards (64GB to 2TB) for quite a while now. I've been using my 128GB card since purchasing the Victor back in August of 2013. There are quite a few using SDXC cards in general, but some using the 256GB and the 512GB cards with no problems. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Colin Phelan Sent: Wednesday, October 26, 2016 6:35 AM To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Subject: RE: Recommendations for a Large Capacity SD Card for my VRS?
