Accessible analog / firewire mixing board search

2016-11-04 Thread John Chilelli
Hi all,

I am in the market for a new analog mixing board with firewire. I have a
absolutely wonderful Onyx 820I now, but I am in need of something just a
little bigger. If memorary serves, I think the next size up from the 820I is
missing something important that was offered on the 820I. I am even willing
to entertain other manufactures as long as the bord is an accessible analog
board with firewire.

Any and all helpful suggestions aare of corse greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

JC

Re: Stereo Receiver Query.

2016-11-04 Thread Andy

Hi Jim.
It's called an Av unit. Audio/Vidio amplifyer .
. Here in the UK we have been slow to pick up on where the Americans have
been enjoying this technology for years.

AV means that I have an amplifier / vidio player that can play audio as well
as vidio data.

Most AVE units have ten F keys

I simply plug my computer into this unit, via phono or optic conections and
my TV, CD player, Sky box or any other sound sourse.

For example

F key 1. Sky boxx which allows me to access my digital TV and in my case
thats Sky Plus. so I can watch telly.

2 Computer audio out which allows me to listen to a described movy, book or
an album, through the unit at 100 wats. Lovely, directly from my computer.

3. Mp3 player audio in which enables me to plug in my mp3 player, as like
plug and play and listen to audio from a small mp3 device.

4. I can have my AV unit play my collection of Cd's.

and that's only 4. f keys, I have ten available, so you can pug in almost
anything and it will play or display all around your house if you are able
to get things set up properly at the start.

I can see a future when all I need do is say, "call pauline" from any room
in my house and my phone will make that connection and I can talk to Pauline
at work without any handset, or I could shout 999 if I fall in the bath, so
I can get help.

Technology is rasing away from me and to be honest with you, I'm finding it
very difficult to keep up with the pace of technical developments.

Very best wishes.
Andy.

Hi Jim.

There are loads of them.

I had two Onkio av units and one broke down so I had that replaced with £750
Yamaha.
Don't know where you live, but I use Richard Sounds in Glasgow. They are a
great company and if you live in England, I'm sure they will post equipment
down to you.

My new Yamaha which costs £750, I got for £450, simply because this company
care about their costomers, so check them out. They also have a special
price for students which I believe is 10% off.

Very best wishes.
Andy.

Interestingly for a number of years it was banned for import into the US
because it contains offal: namely sheep's heart and liver chopped up with
oatmeal and onions and herbs. They vary in flavour with some being too well
seasoned for my liking but my favourite brand is MacSweens which is very
tasty.
