I think you can go through the options dialogue and uncheck the box which is defaulted to cross fading. If this option is removed, tracks will not have their volumes faded at the end, so you shouldn't lose any vocals. However, I've only been using the programme for a week or so, so maybe somebody more experienced will confirm or contradict this. And, whilst I'm here, I have my own (more vague) Station Playlist question. I'm using Studio Pro on a laptop with one soundcard and no mixer. I've enabled my microphone, but either my microphone settings, input/output settings or monitoring settings are faulty. When I toggle the mic on I can't hear anything in my headphones. When I toggle the mic off again I hear my vocals for about half a second before it goes quiet again. I know this is quite a wide-ranging question, but can anybody please advise on which setting might be wrong? I've read the help information which relates to the settings but I'm horribly confused with all of the input mixers and output mixers etc (especially as I'm not using a mixer at all). Ok, cool. Part of my question to you arose from the fact that I have the mixer being recorded by goldwave and in goldwave when you hit the record command control f9, the input source options come up giving you choices ranging from the name of the sound card being used to something called input. I usually choose input and that records the mixer and the mics but the compression doesn't work with the mics as it does with the station playlist tracks which are coming into that same mixer. dan -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Jonathan Mosen Sent: Thursday, November 25, 2010 5:52 PM To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Subject: RE: station playlist and usb microphone If you're using a mixer, you'd want to use StationPlaylist Streamer to take a feed from the mixer, then all the audio including the mic will be processed. When you purchased your licensed copy of Goldwave you should have received an email containing your product User ID and authorization code key. These are then entered in the user control preferences dialog box. However, I won't swear to it as I am unable to locate the authorization codes entry field in my GW interface. THis is probably because this filed may have disappeared after my copy was automaticly validated. At any rate, I have found the Goldwave on board help files very helpful in enabling me to use the Goldwave record and playback interfaces very effectively and confidently. As for your second question, I will defer to others as I am also curious as to how to capture a web audio stream with it. There may be a conflict between JAWS and the video attributes of the wave form in Total Recorder. When I first began working with GoldWave JAWS would cause the computer to crash after about 20 minutes or so of record or playback. I finally resolved the problem by setting the video attributes to the blank position in user control preferences on the advice of Rick Harmon, developer and host of The Blind Geek Zone. . The player will play 3gp, wav and mp3 files. I'm thinking of those three right off, I may be forgetting one, though. These files need to be in a folder called audio+podcasts which is on the root of the drive. You can put subfolders under this to organize them. The player won't announce the folders, but when you're in bookshelf mode you'll be able to navigate to them. As for playing files in stereo, this may or may not be true. I say this, because earlier firmware updates to the player didn't play files in stereo. You need to have version 2.1 or later of the firmware, and it will play files in stereo. To find out your player's version, with no media in it, press the sleep button ten times quickly until you hear the serial number being announced. Once this announcement starts, just wait, and you'll hear the version of your player's firmware announced. My player has version 2.1.3 of the firmware on it. To download NLS books for your player, you need to be signed up with the NLS site. To do this, go to https://nlsbard.loc.gov and click on the link on that page. Since you have an NLS player, you'll be able to get this service. It's nice to download books from the site, and anything you get on a cartridge from your library will be on the NLS site. By the way, you may want to call your local library and tell them you want digital books on cartridge sent to you. I had to do this for myself, and in fact I had to call them again to jolt things into action. I should be getting my first NLS book from my library any day now. There is an email list that is specificly set up for the NLS player. You can find out how to subscribe to it, as well as have some of your questions answered. From: Darrell Shandrow n...@speakeasy.net Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2007 07:59:37 -0700 Hello Colin, The Levelator is a utility that makes the volume of audio within a Wave file constant. Levelator is very good in situations such as conference presentations or interviews where there are different people speaking at varying levels. The Levelator can ensure that all speakers are audible at approximately the same volume. The authors of the Levelator describe the tool as follows: One of our tools for audio engineers, The Levelator is free software that adjusts the levels within your program for variations from one speaker to the next. It's not a compressor, normalizer or limiter although it contains all three. It's much more than those tools, and it's much simpler to use. The people who wrote the Levelator did so explicitly for the purpose of quickly improving the audio quality of the IT Conversations (http://itconversations.com) and other podcasts they produce consisting largely of recorded conference presentations. Visit http://conversationsnetwork.org/levelator/ to learn more about Levelator, but do not download the program directly from The Conversations Network at this time. The currently available public release is not accessible for most blind screen reader users, as it requires use of drag-and-drop in order to locate and process Wave files. Instead, The Conversations Network has agreed to make the software more accessible. You may visit http://lorrain.pbwiki.com/f/LevelatorSetup.exe to download a private beta of the software. This is available with the usual play-at-your-own-risk caveats associated with pre-release code. The accessible version of the Levelator provides right click functionality as an alternative to drag-and-drop. Follow these steps to Levelate a Wave file: 1. Use My Computer or Windows Explorer to locate a Wave file. 2. Press the Right Windows (Application or Context) key or Shift+F10 to right click the file. 3. Down arrow to Send To and press enter. 4. Down arrow to CN Levelator and press enter to start the process. 5. Press enter on the OK button. Don't worry about the version related error dialogue. 6. You can see a percentage of processing using your screen reader's review functionality. 7. Results are found in the same directory as a file with the same name as the original followed by .output.wav. Enjoy. Please send me an e-mail to edi...@blindaccessjournal.com with your constructive feedback so that the final product and future versions can be made even better. It is powered by a single AA batterey, I have a metal hydride in mine and one charge has lasted well over a year. When the charge goes, it *8sudd**suddenly** goes, takes about half a minute or less, fades and then gone unlike most dry cells which in my experience of some forty years, give good power for a fair time then over a period of (say) two or three hours, fade giving worse and worse sound. Metal hydride batteries need a special charger, cannot charge with one used for the old-fashioned nycads, they do not have a memory as did nycad batteries and they can last about a thousand charging cycles but when they fail, they fail completely. I've been using them for the last half-dozen or so years and have used many many in all kinds of equipment; in the time, have had about three duds and five finished their lives. good morning shirley, a place to start is getting the model number and putting it into a search engin. the other thing you can do is to go to minidisco.com or call them 877-637-6268 and maybe they can tell you where to find the manual. dan At 03:33 AM 11/29/04, shirley wrote: what do these do, i got one as a gift. i havent a clue how to work it. it is a sharp model. does anyone know or have one of these and how acesible are they? and, does anyone know where i might obtain an online manual? shirley i just got lost in thought. it wasn't familiar territory ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
